Did anyone on here get into MTSU for Spring 2014 or plan on applying for subsequent semesters? If you got in for Spring 2014, what did your GPA, HESI, and interview score look like? I'm planning on applying for Spring 2015. Any other hopefuls for Fall 2014 or Spring 2015? What do your GPAs look like, and have you taken the HESI yet?

Prettydoll, I do not know what I made on the interview but I feel it went great. I will update you once I find out! I have a 4.0 GPA and made an 89 on the HESI. Also, there was a rather small applicant pool this time. 165 applied and 64 get accepted, so roughly the top 40% got in.

See ya cefhcl! :)

Alright, thanks!

Congratulations to all of my now fellow MTSU Nursing students who made it in this semester. I am in the first semester and it's a wild ride, but you will have a blast and meet tons of great, new friends. :) Best of luck to all of you!!

I might just be right behind you guys. Keeping my head in the books and my fingers crossed.

to those who posted how long did it take for you to complete prerequisites?

Hey! For me it took four semesters, but that is mainly because I didn't know I was going into nursing until late into my second semester. It should take about three semesters to get your prereqs in, if I am not mistaken.

For me it took four semesters and two summer terms, but I have been going to school part-time and working full-time. I also had to take some extra classes because I live in CA and the general education requirements are slightly different. Once I realized that I wanted to move to TN for nursing school, I had to add World Lit., a second history class and Philosophy to my course plan. This was a major bummer because TN recognizes a lot less of a variety of classes than CA does. For example, here the Intro. to Political Science class I took and History 17A fulfill the history requirement. Also, I took a 4 unit photography class that was a ton of work and that counts for a humanities course in CA (but not in TN). If you know exactly what you need to take and are a full-time student, I think three to four semesters with no summers is extremely doable. Also, when I wasn't sure where I wanted to go to nursing school, I decided to only take 1 science class at a time so that I could keep my GPA high. In CA, getting into BSN programs is way more competitive (think at least 3.8 GPA or higher AND all of your classes have to be totally finished before you can even apply. Most schools also require slightly different classes, so it gets very confusing) and students often wait years to get into associate's degree programs because they are composed of a lottery. So happy to be leaving this state lol!

I decided on nursing when I was admitted, so it's only gonna take you 3 semesters if you do that. I took 16 credits for fall, 16 credits now, and came in with credits. I'm going to take A&P II in the summer so I dont have to take it with micro though. So micro is my last pre-req for fall. But you can take micro and A&P II together, you have to get special permission from the nursing department if you want to do that though.

mtsu nclex results were lower than usual. anyone know why? usually its in the 90s but it was an 86% i think this time for 2013 year

according to the BON, it was 81%. 129 sat the exam, 105 passed it. In previous years, around 91-105 people sat to take it. They had a higher number of people sat to take it this year.

Does any of the area hospitals hire MTSU BSN grads or hold clinical sites for the students?
