hi dear.
I am currently in Mt.sac program now. It is my second year.
From what I heard from our professor, there are 700 pp on the waiting list now. That number is still increasing.
Last year the class size was 96. they divided into two classes, Monday group and Wednesday group. Starting from this year, they only accept 60 per semester. They cut couple nice teachers too.
Mt.sac always used the lottery system, pp who has >2.5 can apply for the program and they draw the lottery. But news from the office, says they start picking student from the high GPA to low. Lots of them have 4.0. I wish you have a really good GPA.
I worried about your condition. Did you apply anywhere else?

Hi there! I also applied in 2008 and have still not started the program. I was initally told that I would start in Spring 2010, but then due to the budget cuts, they said I would be pushed back a semester or possibly two. I am so anxious to start since it has been almost two years of waiting...
As for the letters, I was told they were sending them out the first week of May. Good luck and I hope to see you this fall!
Hello gtsharon:
Thank you for your post which was really helpful. It's good to know Mtsac would pick students based on GPA. my GPA is 4.0. I wish that would be a factor to help me get in sooner. :)

I have been waiting since September 2008 as well. My GPA is also A 4.0. But alas no luck with getting in. My # as of the last lottery was 111. Just counting down the months. I Know its gonna be soon. Good luck to all of us!!
Hi everyone! I know we are all anxiously waiting for our letters so I wanted to give you an update.
I spoke with someone in the nursing department and they claim there are problems with the database's server so letters will not be sent out until next week. Although, I heard from someone else that the nursing department is just behind inputting information and removing candidates who didn't pass the HESI or are no longer interested. Personally, I believe it's that they are behind and not computer problems. Whatever it is, I am anxiously waiting for my letter and can't wait to see if I will be one of the luck students to start in fall!
Good luck and I hope we all get our letters this coming week.....

Hi everyone!
I also called the nursing department today and they told me that letters are being sent out today! =D We should be getting it by Thursday if not Friday of this week. I am new on the waitlist so I am hoping that I don't have to wait a year or longer. I am currently working on my bachelors degree and will be done Spring 2011. So hopefully by the time I am done with that I can start the nursing program. The counselor told me that the waiting time is no longer than three semesters. Is that true? or am I misinterpreting? I'm a little confused. Anyway, good luck to everyone who applied! =]
:w00t: hey everyone! check your mail! i just received my letter from mt. sac and will be starting this fall. i am so, so excited and happy. what a difference one letter can make-it really put me at ease since i have been anxiously waiting for this day.
i got a little nervous because the letter says that there will be an assessment test administered at orientation, and i thought geeze, another test? but i spoke with the nursing department and they said that is only if you need to retake the hesi. i am so glad i took it in january and passed. whew....finally on my way to becoming an rn!
did anyone else get their letter today? share the news!

Wow!!! Congrats You must be so very excited. I cannot wait to be in your shoes! I received my updated letter today, and I am #236. I hope that it goes by fast!
I was number 200 something this time last year, so hopefully you won't have to wait that long. Good luck!
Thank you! Please post your orientation experience. I bet you cannot wait!
Congratulations pdperez! I am eager to find out my place in line. How long did you wait? I'm new to the lottery system. Do you know how long it usually takes for someone to get accepted? Could it be possible that a student is on the waitlist for more than three semesters because the counselor told me that the wait is at most three semesters.
