MSN FNP 2016

Nursing Students Chamberlain College

Published

I was wondering if anyone applied for the MSN FNP program for Chamberlain, Spring 2016. Let me know thanks!

Specializes in Cardiology.

The hospital system I currently work for has an established clinical agreement with Chamberlain, so all I needed to do was provide their information and the contact info for the NP clinical scheduler when I applied. I know it's a pain to have to submit a location this early, however I think it's less stressful to do it now as opposed to right before clinicals start. Chamberlain originally rejected my location because the person reviewing it thought it was only an inpatient setting. I had to get an email from the NP clinical scheduler at the health system stating that there are many primary care options available outside of the hospital.

I'm excited to get started and hope that those of us starting this spring will have a better experience than some of the complaints I've read floating around here.

I know for profits don't always have a good reputation, but over all I've heard good things about Chamberlain. It's fully accredited and at the end of the day we all sit for the same certification exams regardless of being from an online program or a traditional school.

The application for preceptor is just a formality. There's no committment or contract for either party to sign. It simply provides you an option for a potential clinical site. But, like you said you are at least a year away from actual obtaining a contract for preceptorship. Don't stress out about it:) Do chose a provider that has a family practice focus though.

What was your experience doubling up courses...were these the core classes? I'm planning on doing the same and would like some idea of manageability.

I am starting the MSN FNP program May 2016.

I think you'll really like it. I've had a great experience with CCN so far. Finishing up my first course NR 510 right now. Best of luck!

Hi lizzyrn74 I will be starting May 2016 as well. If you want to stay in contact email me @ [email protected] (they are zero's). Congratulations and good luck!

I start in September too! I am going to have a hard time setting up clinicals because I am a travel nurse. They told me to just put someone down and I can change it later?

Hi Everyone, I am also starting Chamberlain's FNP program in on August 29th. I am so nervous and excited to get started. Any advice from recent graduates for us newbies?? I plan on doubling up after the first class. Anyone else planning on doing this?? I live in Virginia and look forward to staying connected!!

Good luck everyone.

Initially I planned on doubling up courses 2-7, however after reviewing the syllabus opted not to. There is a lot of reading and assignments in a very short period of time. My advise said that only 25% of students double up on courses.

Best of luck!!

Hello everyone, I'm also planning doubling classes after my first one! I will like to keep in touch with anyone starting this August 29th.. PM me

hi bitheresie, ill be starting Aug as well! :nailbiting:

I am looking to start in October, I think. I would like to keep in contact with anyone starting soon. I also applied to my local college, University of Texas, Arlington, which I was accepted to earlier this year but declined. I am hearing good things about Chamberlain. It is a big decision to go to a private college or a well known university.
