As a new nursing student there are all sorts of diseases to be worried about contracting while working in a hospital setting. Especially MRSA!! How do you deal with that anxiety- or do you even give it a second thought? Any helpful words or tips would be greatly appreciated! For some reason MRSA really has me freaked out.

MRSA really shouldn't be a concern for you as long as you're healthy and not immune-compromised. Lots of health care workers are carriers. MRSA precautions aren't really for you as the nurse, but so you aren't transferring it from the infected patient to another pt with compromised immunity.

hand washing !!!!
also maintain your immune status.
Nurses frequently colonized with MRSA but as long as you have your immune system in good shape you are safe

You are more likely to pick up MRSA at your local Walmart than in hospital.
Wash your hands, use hand sanitizer and you'll be fine.
There are also a lot worse things out there thann MRSA! So always always always wash your hands, use hand sanitizer - no matter what.

Awesome! What a great area of pt teaching, maybe you have found your calling :) Be the *take your dang ab's as prescribed* police. Educate your patients, family and friends about proper ab usage....someone needs to.
