There's a better school in Puerto Rico than UMET, don't go there.

Better play it safe and stay enlisted in the Air Force

I've read many different things on different threads on this site and it was very informative, by the way. Let me start by saying that I am an African American female in the Air Force (Active duty) and I'm researching the idea to apply to go into the Air Guard or the Reserves (Called Palace Chase). This entails finding a new "home base" and applying for the Guard or Reserve there. Since they don't have my job choices around my area I'm deciding to look into moving to a new location entirely. I'm currently about to begin my upper-level courses in Behavioral Sciences at Wilmington University in Delaware and planned on pursing my BSN with the nursing school in southern Delaware. Attending UMET would mean that I would/could skip the first BS in Behavioral Sciences all together and go right into Nursing. Nursing isn't ultimately where i want to end up in life but I love science and I love helping people and being useful, so Nursing seems to fit me naturally. I'm prepared to put in the work, especially in a "dream" location like PR. My Spanish is very decent, however I know i would do better in their English Nursing program. I'm really excited to get help from you guys on how to access the school. Hearing your stories and suggestions would be very helpful and motivating. I'm usually a very self-motivated person but after spending so many years doing everything on my own, it'd be nice to lean on some decent advice for a change! Help a sista out!! Post, message, email, send links, contacts, phone numbers, and I'll be doing my own research of course on my end as well. I'm always looking for an opportunity to travel, but it would be especially neat to live and learn in Puerto Rico, as Spanish has become my second language and I really don't have many people to speak it with to perfect it. I hate leaving things undone! So I've blabbed enough, hopefully I've painted you a pretty little picture of what I'm looking for. Ask and comment away... go! :) Bless ya.

Hello, is it true that you need to know spanish for the imter-american English program? Im nervous as I only speak English. I was truly considering attending but that would make me doubtful.

I went to interamerican at their metro campus and got my bsn. You don't need to know any Spanish. It helps but you can manage. I don't speak any and I got by on the island very well. I'd highly recommend the program there.

What were the requirements to get into the program in Puerto Rico

Thank you. I sent my transcript and filled out the application but haven't heard a thing back. I call and get transferred where no one picks up. I spoke with someone today who gave me an email and i emailed that person. I have been reading on here about how others state you should simply go down there but i am in nyc and currently work so thats easier said than done. I would plan the trip if i had a little more info/clarity so that the trip would be productive. Any suggestions you may have are welcome. Thanks. By the way I have a BA in psychology and have taken pre-reqs like micro, chem, stat, nutrition, & a&p1&2. Did you pass the NCLEX?

There are no prerequisites for the program at Inter. I went there 2 days before classes started with my high school diploma and it was no problem. They never answer the phone as customer service is non existent there but its no problem when your there. It'll take less than a day once your there. It's really easy.

If you have a ba then you can get into the accelerated program and finish much quicker. There are a few tricks you can do there to also finish faster but it takes some more effort.

Please let me know the tricks, and I have know idea when classes actually begin because I haven't spoken to anyone significant. Do you happen to remember? What I gather its sometime in August and others habe spoken about a November start date. What if I go and they go "you weren't accepted, why are you here" that would be kind of hilarious. Also, I would have to give notice to work. Would be good to know for sure i was a go..I shouldn't go quitting all willy nilly. I would really love the tricks you speak of to accelerate the process. Hey , you never spoke about if you took and passed the nclex. Did you feel prepared? Thanks again for your response, this forum is assume :).

I wouldn't worry about it at all about being accepted, its a sure thing. Maybe because they start at both dates. It really begins in August but its a trimester program so about 3 month classes. You can take summer classes so that would make you finish 3 months quicker, you can test out of English and Spanish classes, you can add additional classes to your trimester beyond their predetermined schedule, you can also take classes at the bayamon campus. I take the nclex in 7 days so I'll let you know. Message me if you have anything else. I'd be happy to help

Wow! good luck . I wish I could message you but I have not yet posted enough. You have been a wonderful help and it is appreciated. I realy will be waiting for your update on the test.

Hello I'm based in California and will be applying to la inter this year .have you started the program already or do you have any information regarding finishing nursing school at la inter and coming back to California . Thanks

The 2 yr accelerated program (evening) for those who already hold a bachelors or just have a couple of classes to take before completing their first degree is completely in English. Even if you don't have a degree you can still be placed in the accelerated program if you have met all/most of pre-reqs. but this is at discretion of the program's director. The day program is a traditional 4 yr program in Spanish (for those starting off as 1st year of college). I do know the school has some English classes so somebody who is starting out could probably finish the whole BSN in English. All science classes even those held in Spanish have English textbooks. Hope it helps.

Hello darling  I will be attending UMET in August for their ASN or BSN I would like some advice though. I live in Hallandale Beach and I see you live in West Park. I am a new user but I ALWAYS USE ALLNURSE for advice. How can I send you direct messages on here Jen?
