I have been looking online to get advice on moving from Scotland to Napa Valley CA.

and I have managed to confuse myself. Is there one site you can recomend that will take me through the steps to transfer my qualifications so I may then look at jobs?

I have 23 years experiance from Nurse to Care Home Manager and my qualification is as a Psychiatric Nurse.

Thanking you in advance for any help you may give.

What visa are you going on? If you are the main applicant then you need to be aware that CA will not accept application to register as a RN and sit NCLEX until you are in the US on a valid work/immigrant visa and have been issued a US SSN. I hope you have clinical and theory hours on your transcripts on Paeds, Obstetrics, Adult as well as Mental Health as US nurses are general trained. Also many experienced nurses are struggling in CA for work so someone looking for a work/immigrant visa will find it even harder. You will have to look at a state that doesn't require a US SSN

Starting point would be meeting a state board of Nursing requirements for International trained, pass NCLEX and then look for a employer willing to go through the process. Also with retrogression if you was born in the UK then you are looking currently at over 2 years for a immigrant visa and that is once your employer has filed immigrant status for you and a visa becomes available. Therefore looking at over 3 years wait before you arrive in the US and work. (as a rough guide)
