Hello Everyone,
I'm a RN from NY, I have 15 months of experience. I was wondering if anyone new what's the pay rate, and night differential. Is Preaby better than Baylor? How good is Medical city hospital? Thank you in advance!

There are three major hospital systems in the DFW metroplex and a few minor ones. The majors are Texas Health Resources, Baylor and HCA. THR and Baylor are not-for-profit, HCA is a for-profit entity.
The HCA owned hospitals are known as "Medical City" followed by the name of the town. Therefore the closest one to you would be Medical City McKinney. Others not too far are Medical City Frisco and Medical City Plano.
THR is generally the best paying of those three. Theirs are the "Presby" hospitals.
There are a few Methodist hospitals. There is also Parkland, the Dallas County hospital, down in Dallas. UTSW is down in Dallas as well. Children's has locations in both Dallas and Plano.
Night differentials vary WIDELY by employer. Pay will be less than you made in NY most likely. Your rate with 15 months in will be in the mid to upper $20s per hour. Welcome to Texas.

I can't out-do "not-done-yet's" reply, but I can tell you that driving from, say, McKinney to downtown Dallas can take an hour if there's traffic. Arlington & Fort Worth are further. You should get a toll-tag, as driving around Dallas often involves toll roads like the George Bush turnpike and the North Dallas tollway. By the way, Grapevine (east of Irving) is awesome at Christmas time! But driving the roads in that area (which is just north of the DFW airport) can be tricky with the 114 & 121 splits.
Oct. 14 will be crazy on the roads. Why? There's a BIG football game happening at the Cotton Bowl and it's a good time to stay away from the area.
Obviously my response evades your question. I'm familiar with the Dallas area, but sometimes you need patience to deal with the driving conditions.
Thank you guys for the feedback. I keep reading so many different figures as to the pay rate... Was hoping to get some insight from someone who works at one of these hospitals. I have to say, the highways are way more organized and cleaner than NY. A tag definitely a great idea. Thank you!
I have worked for all three in the past. As a new grad 7 years ago I made 23/hr. By 18 months I was at $27/hr.

Not sure if you have your Texas license yet, but it is an fairly easy process and it took only 4 weeks for me to get mine.
