Padre,
You are just the person that I have been looking for!! I am hoping to start Columbus Tech's ADN program in Summer 2009. I want to take classes on the Flint River Campus, but I also heard that two of the clinicals will be in Columbus. I know that it is a competitive program and I wanted to see how I would stack up to students who have been admitted to the program. What is the lowest gpa that your class admitted? What type of composite score on the NLN is competitive? I know that you need a 50 to apply, but what types of scores can get you in? Also, I am not sure how the COMPASS is scored, but what is considered a competitive score on this test? What is the interview like? What types of questions does the admissions committee ask? What are clinicals and classes like? How many days a week do you attend both classes and clinicals? I have so many questions. I am so excited I found someone who graduated from this program. Sorry for the bombardment of questions. Thank you so much for your help. :wink2:
GaMommy81, Whew! LOL... Ok let me see where to start? First, it is a very competitive program. But the fact that you wish to attend the Flint campus may be in your favor because there is less likely to be an overload of applicants there. NLN scores are an important part, but do decide whether you get in or not? They are only a part of the process. Above a 75 will get you an interview. As far as the interview itself, the 4 person panel wants to know who and what kind of person you are? Just be yourself and you'll be fine. They will ask you things like, "Why do you want to be a nurse?... What will make you a good nurse?....What are your strengths and weaknesses?...etc." Of course you must complete a certain number of pre reqs before entering the program (ie. math, english, A&P, etc.. ) GPA? 3.0 or above is good! Comapss? Have a good math compass score. I can't really tell you what good is?? But do the best you can and get it up as high as you can! Same goes for english! Clincals will begin in your 2nd quarter. They start of slow, usually only 4 hours a week, but build up to 24-36 hrs a week later in the program. Classes are usually held 2 days a week and as clinical time builds up you can expect to be pushed! (class 2 days and clinicals 2 days) Best of luck to you! P.S. Make sure ALL your paperwork is signed and turned in ON TIME! Or all your hard work will be pushed back a year! Let me know if there is anything else I can help you with :nuke:. Padre
Hello,I don't know if any lives near Warner Robins or Macon. But I have questions about nursing in that area. I will be searching for a job out there in September of 09 as a new grad is there any info anyone can give me?
Thanks
Have you been out there before or have family in the area? I have lived there before (not a nurse yet) and there is not much to do LOL. That is why I was asking. You may prefer that of course, I was just curious.
