  1. Hi Maria, I took my NCLEX RN exam last week and although I'm not permitted to discuss content, I can tell that by reading your post you are on the right track! Saunders is a great tool. It is what I used. Keep doing the questions from the cd if you have it! If you can look in the mirror and know you prepared to the best of your ability, you will be successful! Best of luck!!! Jim
  2. I took my california boards on 3/21/09. Good luck to all of us! I'm sending out positive vibes to all!
  3. Your mental toughness should be inspiration to all! Congratulations on your accomplishment! I know you and your family are very proud!!!!
  4. Thanks Dragon, I appreciate it.
  5. Anybody know the average wait time for NCLEX results if you took California boards? I am an american....educated in the U.S....with a valid social security number. Thanks
  6. Faeriewand, Thank you so much for your reply and words of encouragement. I'll most definitely take a close look at the opportunities available on the links you provided and hopefully something will come my way once I have passed my nclex exam! Thanks again, padre
  7. GaMommy81, not at all! The HR department at Doctors actively recruited our class months before we graduated! They had what they call "meet and greet" when we did our clinicals at their facility. They were very nice and took an active interest in our future as nurses. I was hired so fast it was kind of freaky! I had never been treated so nice! I got the position I wanted and a starting salary that was as competitive as those in larger cities like Atlanta.
  8. Hi everyone, I have a question about what a "New Grad" is? Is this a term used in general to describe all new RN's or does it apply to grads with little or no healthcare experience? The reason I ask is that I'm graduating from an ADN program near Atlanta on Dec. 11th. I've been a paramedic with the Atlanta Fire Dept. for 18 years and am originally from San Diego. I would LOVE to come home and begin my second career after passing NCLEX in January, but after reading some threads here it appears a bit discouraging with regards to the difficulty some people are having getting a position. Anyone have any advice or words of encouragement for this "Old SoCal Native?" Thanks, Padre
  9. I believe the interviews are sometime in april? Contact the nursing department for an exact date. You're very welcome too! : )
  10. GaMommy81, Whew! LOL... Ok let me see where to start? First, it is a very competitive program. But the fact that you wish to attend the Flint campus may be in your favor because there is less likely to be an overload of applicants there. NLN scores are an important part, but do decide whether you get in or not? They are only a part of the process. Above a 75 will get you an interview. As far as the interview itself, the 4 person panel wants to know who and what kind of person you are? Just be yourself and you'll be fine. They will ask you things like, "Why do you want to be a nurse?... What will make you a good nurse?....What are your strengths and weaknesses?...etc." Of course you must complete a certain number of pre reqs before entering the program (ie. math, english, A&P, etc.. ) GPA? 3.0 or above is good! Comapss? Have a good math compass score. I can't really tell you what good is?? But do the best you can and get it up as high as you can! Same goes for english! Clincals will begin in your 2nd quarter. They start of slow, usually only 4 hours a week, but build up to 24-36 hrs a week later in the program. Classes are usually held 2 days a week and as clinical time builds up you can expect to be pushed! (class 2 days and clinicals 2 days) Best of luck to you! P.S. Make sure ALL your paperwork is signed and turned in ON TIME! Or all your hard work will be pushed back a year! Let me know if there is anything else I can help you with :nuke:. Padre
  11. I work at Doctors Hospital which is owned by Columbus Regional. I also graduated from Columbus Techs ADN program. If I can help you in any way...please let me know?
  12. You won't have any trouble finding work in Georgia! I live in Columbus, Ga. and was hired on at a local hospital 3 months before I even graduated. As a matter of fact, 40 out of 50 students in my graduating class had a job before they graduate! You'll be fine Macon too!
