moving to Frisco, Texas???lpn/rn programs

I might be moving to Frisco, Texas does anyone know of any lpn or rn programs there? Please help I have been accepted to Illinois but husband got a job in Frisco, don't want to loose my dream.

Another alternative is Grayson County College. LVN program is actually held at the VanAlstyne campus, which is just north of Mckinney. I live in Frisco - it was about a 30-45 minute drive depending on traffic in the morning.

RN program is held at the Sherman campus. From frisco it was about a 50 minute drive - I drove straight up 289 (Preston Road) to 52, then 1417 ( I think - Not sure) but it was approx 55 miles.

Since you are already accepted into a program in Illinois, is there any way you can stay and try to compete it? The programs here are very competitive, you will most likely be waiting another year or two.

As said in the previous post, Collin County College is the closest. It's campus is right off of Community and 380 in McKinney. If you had already been accepted into the nursing program at your last school I assume you already have most of the required pre-reqs except possibly statistics. Anyways, Collin has a great nursing program. I was accepted last semester and I start in August. It is very competitive but not too hard. Just make straight A's and you're basically in. I hear people complain about how hard it is to get in, but when you do get in you know that you deserve to be there and there is a bigger sense of accomplishment. Besides wouldn't you rather have your nurse working on you be a straight A and very competent person rather than a B and C student who completed whatever program was the easiest?

Grayson County College has an excellent LVN-RN program. I met many of them when they transitioned to the RN program and they REALLY knew their stuff. Very tough program but well, well worth it in the long run!

Thanks everyone. No I don't have statistics:(. The program here starts in January so I have six months to see what I can get into down in Texas.

Hopefully I can find something I will look into the schools listed. I am a CNA and can hopefully find work there.

If I can't start in Texas I'm thinking of staying fot the program here and commuting to Texas on no school days . Christmas break, spring break, summer, etc. The cost of living is so much cheaper.

I've met many straight-A students who were intelligent, but lacked the common sense and assertiveness to ever be good at bedside nursing. I've met nurses who earned 'C' grades, and these people could run circles around anyone by providing wonderful care.

In other words, a nurse is not made by the grades he/she earns.
