Published

Hi all, i wonder if you can help me, i am a registered nurse in the UK i have a diploma in adult nursing, i have being qualified for two years, my wife and i are due to move to Wisconsin in 2010, my wife is from the state of Wisconsin. What nursing jobs can i do with these qualifications ? or will i need to do more training

all the best David

You would need to contact the WI board of nursing to see if you would need anymore training or schooling. I am not sure of the equivelency of the educations.

Best of luck in moving to Wisconsin! I'm sure your wife will be happy to be back home!

David,

I will second what onyz said. The board is the one who can decide if you meet qualifications. I work at a large teriary care center in the center of Wisconsin and we have many doctors and nurses from other countries, so I wouldn't think there would be a problem.

Welcome to this wonderful state. I am a transplanted Texan, but consider this my home state.

Welcome to the upper midwest.....

Thread moved to the International Forum as it is specific to a foreign grad wishing to work in the US and additional requirements are going to have to be met.

Did you acually have coursework in peds and maternal health while you were in school? This is going to be a requirement to be able to get licensed anywhere in the US or even Canada.

The above posting about other jurisdictions is no longer valid for working in the US, even if one has a Canadian license; as the Visa Screen Certificate is required for all. And that requires either passing of the NCLEX-RN or the CGFNS exam to get it.
