Hello All,
I have curently been taking all my pre requesites and supporting courses at Brookhaven College. Initially that is where I wanted to go at first, but after hearing that the program is so competitive I decided to just do a little more research about my options. So, recently I have heard that Mountain View college has a fairly new nursing program. Has anyone here been accepted to the program? If so, how is school? Is it hard to get in? I'm currently trying to start Fall 2014, but unfortunately application deadline is April 14th. I'm a little nervous to apply becasue I will not have Micro nor Pharmacology done until May. Is it worth applying to the program? most of my grades are "A's", but I have not taken HESI yet. What should I do?
Hey guys, im also interested in applying for the nursing program at mountain view.Im just curious what as to how many points you guys are going to apply with for fall 2014. im worried I wont have enough since I have yet to take patho or pharm, im taking them this spring, but obviously they wont count towards my application. Do you guys know the average amount of points that accepted applicants have?
I'm too applying for fall 2014 and Im also taking patho n pharm in spring. The nurse coordinator told me to go ahead and apply because if I wait until I have all my requirement classes it's going to get harder to get in the nursing program, but I'm scared that I won't be able to have enough points.

Doesnt hurt to try. If you have all the pre req's done then go for it,,,,you never know how the points are gonna look. Some years it doesnt take much!
I applied to a couple programs for the Spring, I did not get accepted because my points were low BUT it was worth a shot and motivates me more this next time around. Ill be with you in the Fall applicant pool!! :-)
hmmmmm... i may also apply for Fall 14. I will not have patho or pharm either and I am taking Micro this Spring. PLanned on taking Patho and Pharm during Summer. I also have not taking HESI. Not even sure if I should apply but like you said its worth a shot! Not like it is gonna hurt right??

But don't schools also look at how many time you have taken the HESI too? Have you taken the HESI already and if you have what book did you use to help you study for it? May I ask how many points you had when you applied?
Thanks :)

Some schools will limit the number of times you can take the HESI, or will want a certain gap of time before you can take it again.
I took my HESI at El Centro and they didn't require critical thinking, but when I take that portion I am looking at 22 points for MV (assuming I get the max points) because I've taken everything except Micro.
For the spring I applied to El Centro with 21 points- that was wishful thinking LOL. They lowest they took was 27 so now that I've taken more classes I will have at least 27 points when I apply for the Fall. I also applied to Weatherford with very low points, and their lowest point accepted was 29! I knew my points were low, but it felt good to be able to apply, and I got to confirm that I had everything in order--was my shot record ok? Did I turn in my paperwork right? Etc.
I used Mc Graw Hill nursing school entrance exam book to study.

Yeah i will have at least 18 points when I apply I still havent taken patho or pharmacology. I'm still hesitating whether or not to apply but hey it never hurts to try, I really want to see how the HESI exam is like. Although i heard people that applied to the program with 18 points did not get accepted. Thanks so much I'm going to buy it.
I called the other day and the dean told me that you cannot only take the critical thinking portion at MVC. Then i went to the testing center and they said you could, so I was confused. I was told by the dean that the only place you can only take the critical thinking is at Brookhaven, but they don't offer it anymore since their deadline is passed. The next info session is March 18 so Im going to go and clarify everything. The critical thinking is not required to apply. If you are happy with your Hesi scores, then it may be best to not re take it and chance getting a lower score just to add the critical points. Tough call
I talked to Ms. Self-Drake a few weeks ago and she told me the same. That MVC doesn't offer CT portion and that it is optional but if you wanted the extra points then take it at Brookhaven for $20.
This is all confusing! I will be a nursing session also but not applying this time around.....
So who is all planning on applying next April? I have all classes needed except Patho and Pharm and I think I may just take those this summer. They are both in Summer 1 at MVC. I take the HESI in a few weeks and that will be it for me. I am also considering applying at ECC. This whole waiting game really sucks. Also, those of you interested in MVC, they are having a nurse session May 6 at 5pm
