Mountain View College Fall 2019

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Hi there, Trying to reapply to Mountain View for the fall 2019. I got denied for the spring. I do not give up that easy so i am trying my luck once more.Hopefully they will consider me the second time.I will schedule an appointment with the admin to know where i went wrong. I decided to start a thread this early so we can help one another and finally share a classroom together.

This time I am applying to as many schools as possible.

So the NCTC requires teas, anyone done the test? I need tips.

Pharmacology will not count towards your points but will help you reduce the workload once you get accepted. PS: They do not accept the HPRS one. They accept the one that starts with RN...

I'm assuming that if you have A&P II then you'll already have A&P I, correct? There are no extra points for having an undergraduate degree but it doesn't hurt. And maybe they'll take it into consideration. As long as you have your PreReqs:

MATH 1314 College Algebra

ENGL 1301 English Composition

PSYC 2301 General Psychology

BIOL 2401 or SCIT 1407 Anatomy & Physiology 1

along with your HESI and the other requirements for the application process. I'm enrolled in Pharmacology for Spring 2019 too but we won't get any points for it now if we're applying for Fall 2019 Nursing programs. Have you taken Microbiology yet? The points are calculated based on your prereqs. An A in the class = 3 pts. B = 2 pts. C = 1 pt.

And your HESI gives you points as follows:

. HESI A2 Score: Composite score of reading comprehension, grammar, vocabulary, Anatomy & Physiology and Math. If your score is:

<75 = ineligible to apply

75 = no points, meets eligibility to apply

76-88 = 1 point

89 to 100 = 2 points

Total points are calculated and then ranked numerically using the following formula:

Points for Prerequisite and Support Course Grades + HESI A2 points = Total Points

I didn't see that I was awarded points for support courses just yet but follow the outline and the best thing may be to schedule an advising appointment with Mrs. Self Drake to go over your information. She is super helpful!!!

Please let me know if you have additional questions or if I was able to help at all.

Yes! This was very helpful thank you! I unfortunately don't have microbiology yet. I am planning on taking that course this summer. I took pharm because I noticed that it was to be taken during the the first semester at MVC. I want to start off with as little credit hours as possible during the first semester. I do have A&P I and II though. I feel as though not having microbiology is going to hurt me big time. However, I can only hope for the best at this point and make sure that I include everything in my packet so that I'm not disqualified.

Yes i was one of the applicants and i had 15 points and was called for an interview. Someone had 23,another had 13, i do not know the highest but you can see the range. I think i messed up on the interview so TAKE IT SERIOUSLY, for it counts towards you getting accepted.

Hope this helps, ask anything, will try my level best to answer!

I wish us all the best.

Hey there NeemaM!

What kind of questions did they ask you in your interview? And why do you feel that you didn't get chosen if you don't mind me asking? Also how many support courses did you have completed prior to you applying?

I'm confused now.... On the Admissionranking for MVC it doesn't state no points are awarded for pharmacology. I thought ithat was considered a support course?

Pharmacology is considered a support course. If you completed the class already then you get pounts based on the grade you received for the class. If you are taking it now (as is my case) or will take it later, you get no points for it. It would just be one less class you have to deal with when it comes to nursing core in August. Hope that answered your question! ?

Thanks Shauntil07! I have already completed the class. Is not very hard. You should be able to get an easy A!

Hi Nikkiguz19,

Did you take your Pharm class at MVC and online?

You could contact Rochelle Self-Drake at 214-860-3694 or by email at [email protected] for more information. She's the Nursing coordinator and is very helpful!

No, I took at El Centro online. It was self-paced and assignments due the last day of class.
