Hello All!
I applied to the ABSN program for summer 2016 admission and I haven't seen any thread yet so I'm hoping that we can use this one to support one another. I know that they've extended the deadline to 1 Nov due to some technical issues and they want to give other applicants a fair chance, but I don't know when the MSMU will start contacting individuals for math exam and interviews.
If there are kind souls (previous/current students/applicants) lurking in this thread, kindly give us some ideas and/or advise on how we can become stronger applicants, aced the interview, good place to live closer to the university, selling used books, etc.
Good Luck to all of us and can't wait to hear some good news SOON!
@hiyall123 Still waiting for every other school to get back to me, since their application cycles were later than MSMU. MSMU is one of my top choices though! I would pick an LA school for sure since I want to live around there. How about you?
@LBrown1212 This was my first time applying. Honestly, I think what got me accepted was my personal statement. I poured my heart into it, and backed up all my claims with examples or experiences I've gone through. My undergrad GPA was just okay (slacked off a lot in sophomore year), my prereqs were mostly A's. I had 4 classes in progress at the time of application (3 of which were complete with A's by the time of my interview). Good luck!
Thank you @whimisicality for volunteering to make the FB closed group! Yeah, I think we can just call it "MSMU ABSN May 2017 Cohort!" but I wish we know our Cohort number, we can use that to prevent confusing other people in the future. Since you're still waiting for other schools' decision, hopefully, you'll end up joining us too in the end. I will also pray that may God guide you in whatever choice you'll make ^_^
Hi @LBrown1212,
I'm sorry to hear that you didn't make it in the summer, but i'm so glad that you're reapplying for fall. I had all my science pre reqs done by the time i applied, and the only pending class i have now is public speaking, which i am taking right now. I think my personal statement, and my interview, and the grades i got were a factor in my being accepted. I have all A's except a B in physiology. I was asked during my interview why i got the B, and i told them honestly, that i was going through my roughest phase in my life(a divorce), and that's the reason i didn't make an A. I also am completing my CNA course right now, and will be a certified NA in two weeks. I know this made a difference because CNA school teaches you the basics of nursing, and that really made the interviewer happy. I hope you make it in to fall cohort. Good luck, and hope this helps.
@whimsicality,
i tried searching for the group but couldn't find it:( Did you receive a what's next email from the school? I haven't received anything since or before my acceptance letter in the mail. I made the reserve your spot $400 deposit, but nothing since then. If you have, would you mind sharing the contents of the email?

Hello All! Congrats again to those who made it!!! I just want to find out if there's a brave soul out there who would like to start an FB closed group? I found out that there's an MSMU Summer 2016 but they are actually the group who are graduating this year, so I'm not sure what we should name ours. I'm not really a tech savvy or creative, or I would have done this a long time ago LOL. I'm excited to start on this adventure with everyone and looking forward to meeting you all in May. God bless and take care always!
