Mount St Mary's University ABSN Summer 2016

Published

Hello All!

I applied to the ABSN program for summer 2016 admission and I haven't seen any thread yet so I'm hoping that we can use this one to support one another. I know that they've extended the deadline to 1 Nov due to some technical issues and they want to give other applicants a fair chance, but I don't know when the MSMU will start contacting individuals for math exam and interviews.

If there are kind souls (previous/current students/applicants) lurking in this thread, kindly give us some ideas and/or advise on how we can become stronger applicants, aced the interview, good place to live closer to the university, selling used books, etc.

Good Luck to all of us and can't wait to hear some good news SOON!

Thank you @complicakeit for the info! Just like @whimsicality, I was planning on taking it at Taylor Univ to lighten the load. I actually emailed Ms. Agasia too and she said that they won't accept any Bioethics from other school, seems like another changes in their process. That's too bad because I heard that 2nd semester is pretty hard, although for me all of them are going to be difficult due to fast paced, lots of information to learn at a short period of time. Ok, we'll have each other's support so I'm not too worried...yet...LOL!

I haven't gotten any mail either. I'll keep you all posted.

I asked the same question if i could take bioethics at taylor, and was told that they want us to take it at the Mount. Haven't received any emails or the official mail in the post yet. I did make my $400 deposit though. Does anyone have any other information? When is the orientation? I know the program starts on May 8th though:) It still seems surreal, and i think reading the official acceptance letter will make it legit:)

In the email, it says orientation is may 5 and classes start may 9!

Congrats to all those who have been accepted! I am in the process of applying to MSMU absn Fall 2016. I am hoping you can help calm my nerves and self-doubt by sharing your stats with us- overall undergrad gpa and pre-req gpa. This would be so helpful! Thank you in advance and congrats again!!

Check your mail guys!!!;)

Just checked the mail, and the letter is in! It's official:) I guess we will receive more regarding the immunizations and program details either by mail or email. @whimsicality when did you receive the email with the dates? I have paid the deposit etc., but still haven't heard anything regarding all of that. The letter just confirms the admission status and states that we need to pay the $400 deposit by February 1st. I also emailed the admissions office and they said that students that need to retake the math test will get the information post february 1st for remediation.

The dates were in the "ABSN Next Steps" email I received on Jan 20! It's on the bottom of the email.

hey all- anyone got into other programs they they might choose over msmu?

Hi everyone! Congrats to all those accepted! I did not get accepted I think because of pending classes. I wanted to see if this was any ones second time applying? or if you guys had all classes done at time of the application? I am reactivating my application for Fall 2016 which is due March 1st. Any advise on how to make my application stronger?

Hello @LBrown1212, I'm sorry that you didn't get in the program but I'm glad to see that you're going to reapply for Fall 2016. If you don't mind me asking, how many pending classes do you have when you applied or need to finish before Summer session?

I'm not even sure if what I'm going to say will make any sense, honestly, I don't know how they choose the applicants. We all know that the competition is really tough, so try to get As if possible, or at least B. Do you have patient care experience? Even though they said that it's ok not to have it, but I think there's still an advantage on having it. So see if you can spare some time to do some volunteer work as a COPE Health Scholar (aka clinical care extender) or something like that. But isn't it you made it up to the interview portion, which means, you have a higher chance on getting in next time, especially once you completed your prereqs. I'll be cheering on you and hope to see you at the end of this year ^_^ God bless.

Hi Whisper28,

I had 3 classes that I took Fall 2015 so at the time of application and now have all prereqs done. I was retaking my Micro Biology Class which on a previous transcript I had C in...I think that might have been my down fall. All other preqs are As with very few Bs. I have some experience and regular volunteering. I just thought that because I had taken it in Fall I would still have time to have it considered but they received the official transcript January 11th and decisions were made January 15th.

I took the math exam but was not contacted after that, I did not interview.

The Fall application is due March 1st...I'm nervous because I will be past my 5 year mark on some science classes after Fall 2016.

Hello LBrown1212! Thank you for the info. Don't be nervous, I believe that I don't see any problem as long as your science classes are still good before the session starts. But you can always double check with the admission office just to be sure ok? At least by doing that, you can get the right answer and it'll lessen your worries by finding the right info. Also, only a recommendation, to update your essay in case you did stuff that's worth mentioning that happened from the last time you sent your application.

Good luck to you and wishing you the best!
