Mount St Mary's University ABSN Summer 2016

Published

Hello All!

I applied to the ABSN program for summer 2016 admission and I haven't seen any thread yet so I'm hoping that we can use this one to support one another. I know that they've extended the deadline to 1 Nov due to some technical issues and they want to give other applicants a fair chance, but I don't know when the MSMU will start contacting individuals for math exam and interviews.

If there are kind souls (previous/current students/applicants) lurking in this thread, kindly give us some ideas and/or advise on how we can become stronger applicants, aced the interview, good place to live closer to the university, selling used books, etc.

Good Luck to all of us and can't wait to hear some good news SOON!

Hello @Jensfro! Congratulations to you! Feel free to join us in FB group that @whimsicality created. Looking forward for the upcoming adventure ^_^

Congratulations @Jensfro! Looking forward to meeting with you:)

may I ask what your GPA was when you submitted your app?

@Socal_EMT my BA GPA is 3.7 and my science pre-reqs are 4.0. I am also a CNA and have over 130 hours of volunteer experience.

have they shared any information of where you fell on the acceptance spectrum? Im applying for the transfer admissions, and I too have similar stats as yours. For some reason I am nervous with my 3.67 GPA 4.0 Pre-req GPA and 4 years experience as an EMT. I want to gain admissions badly to a nursing program.

I wouldn't be too nervous. It seems like that's a good position to be in for any program.

could anyone elaborate on some of the questions that were asked during the interview? how soon after your application was submitted did you hear back from the nursing department?

Hi! i recently applied for the Fall 2016 Cohort. I had a few questions and would be so grateful to get a response from any of you :). Are we able to take the Bioethics course at Taylor or is that no longer an option? What was the math exam like? What should I focus on studying for the math exam? I received an acceptance to a school out of state (Loyola ABSN in Chicago) and I'm really curious if I will get in to Mount Saint Mary's because it seems more competitive! And we don't find out until June! Ah! I have all A's in my science pre reqs and just a B in psychology and english (from my original under grad), and around a 3.2 GPA from undergrad. I think my personal statement was very strong, as were my recommendation letters. I have a small amount of patient care experience. What do you all think about my chances of getting in? Did most people who were invited to take the math exam get in? What is the work load like while in the program? I am assuming I will have no life for the year, I am just curious how much time I will be able to spend with my two children. What are your nights and weekends like? Are you able to sleep a normal 7ish hours every night? Thank you in advance for any info you can give me!!! :)

I am from a different cohort at MSMU ABSN. I have some used books for sale if anyone is interested for the upcoming cohorts.

Can anyone that is currently in the Program discuss the low nclex pass rate? Does anyone know why it is so low compared to other local schools? Is it not properly preparing students?
