Mount Sinai PSON ABSN Fall 2022

Published

I haven't seen any threads for the Mount Sinai ABSN Fall 2022 entry yet so I figured I would make one. I know the deadline isn't for a few months but the application has been open since August. Has anyone who already applied heard back yet?

Hi DanielaRose,

You should send your official college transcript to NursingCAS Transcript Processing Center. However, you should ask your high school to send your official high school transcript directly to the Tuan Le's email (NursingCAS do not accept HS transcript). Good luck with your application!

You get 2 weeks from when you receive your acceptance letter. It is short if you are still waiting on other schools but if you know you want to accept then it’s fine ?

I am a current student in the program and most people, myself included, experienced the same dilemma during this time in the application process. Most schools have very short periods of when you have to put down deposits even though you are still waiting on decisions from other schools. If you're in a position to put down a deposit to hold your spot just to ensure that you'll go to nursing school in the fall, you can and then if you get an acceptance at another school that is a better fit, you can retract your acceptance but you'll lose your deposit.

Also echoing what has already been mentioned in this thread already, I HIGHLY HIGHLY recommend taking patho and/or pharm through portage before starting the program. I had to take the full class load the first semester (I initially tried to do it through portage and found it much more manageable but I was unfortunately unable to finish by the deadline and the program is very strict about the deadline to transfer these credits) and the first semester is hard mainly because of the volume of information that you need to learn in a short period of time.

@Iwanttobeanurse

Would you choose a Summer start date (rather than fall) if it meant starting sooner but not being able to take pharm or patho ahead of time?  Or is it worth it to wait until the fall but take those two courses separately during the Summer to lighten workload of nursing school?

I think it's a matter of personal preference and priorities. By taking the two classes through portage, you save money since the cost to take both classes at PSON is higher. The Summer cohort is also usually a smaller group than the fall cohort so you may get more individualized attention. If you start in the Summer and you end up having to repeat a course, you will have the opportunity to take it the following semester whereas if you started in the fall, as of currently, they do not offer those same classes again the next semester so you would have to wait an extra semester until the course is offered again (I.e. if you failed pharm in the fall, you will have to wait until the following Summer to take the course). The program also does not advise that you work (although some people do) and taking all 5 classes will make that extremely difficult. I have heard from some of my other classmates who did take patho and/or pharm before the program that semester two was a bit of an adjustment for them since it felt like academically more work whereas it felt more manageable for those of us who took all five classes the first semester.

Congrats to everyone who’s heard back and been accepted! I was just wondering how big the class sizes were and how long until you hear back about the acceptance. I just applied and feeling pretty nervous since it seems to be rolling and I didn’t submit the earliest I could.

Last year I applied 10ish days before deadline and I got in. For fall 2021, we had about 120ish students to begin with

That's nice to hear! Also, I submitted an official copy of my HS transcript on NursingCAS but I wasn't sure if I needed it to be emailed to Tuan Le directly from my High school. Can anyone please give me any insight on this?

Did anyone else do an interview?? So nervous!
