Mount Sinai ABSN Summer 2020

Published

Hi all,

Has anyone applied to and/or gotten an admission decision from Mount Sinai PSON for the ABSN program starting Summer 2020?

Thanks!

Does anyone have any clinical experience? Just curious

going to get my ID next week. As for uniforms, it’s easier to order them online. However, sizes might be not what we expect, as with any apparel. On my way to submit drug screening.

What day next week are you going? Can someone tell me what pre immersion program is?

I was thinking about Thursday or Friday. But now reconsidering, need to get a haircut first LOL. As for pre immersion, I can only assume that it will be intro into our activities or anything related to study, clinical etc ... but it’s just a guess

perhaps, someone here has more knowledge of it?

Thank you!

@nurse333 how come you would rather attend PSON over NYU (besides the significant difference in tuition)?I am deciding between the 2 and just wanted to hear someone else’s perspective

The significant difference in tuition is probably the main reason. Otherwise- I have friends who went to NYU, as well as my sister, and they all said NYU is really just about a good experience but when it comes to find a job at the end of the day nobody really cares where you went to school. Just how you did on your NCLEX and having a good interview.

I'm debating between pace and mount sinai.

pre immersion is just some discussion boards about what you expect, how you study, etc

good luck!

Thank you so much. Do anyone have a list of supplies they want us to get? I want to get a head start while I am still working. ?

so NYU waived the requirement for official transcripts and is accepting unofficial ones due to coronavirus, any chance Mount Sinai did the same?I'm broke and I can't pay for 3 official transcripts

Mt Sinai will never do anything to make it easier for the students, regardless of COVID. Also there is no one to ask bcuz the only helpful staff member just resigned after 18 years due to the downfall of PSON

Re supplies - a laptop is essential, and textbooks will be told to you with each class, but the PDFs are just as good!

I paid 160 for a textbook bc the teacher said the newest edition is best, and she was using an older edition herself and based answers on her book, which at times conflicted with the new edition! So dont waste money on them!

youll end up teaching yourself from you tube mostly!

They might. I think you should contact them and let them know your situation.

LOL, I thought of the same thing. Does anyone know what the schedule of classes may look like? It would be nice to know so that I can consider going part time with my job or quitting completely. Although it seems as though I should leave entirely, due to the intensity of the program. Is anyone considering to work while in the program?

there are some people in my cohort who manage to work part time bc they have no other commitments! I would say try that before quitting! especially because in the first semester there are no clinicals!
