Motlow Applicants 2014

U.S.A. Tennessee

Published

Hey everyone! Just wanted to create a place for potential Motlow Nursing students for fall 2014 to converse, ask questions, and get to know each other. Anyone out there? If so, which campus do you hope to attend? I live near Lavergne, so Smyrna campus will be my home base.

For those of you who have questions about the process over the next 6 months, I went through all of the application/acceptance/orientation/etc steps last year, but had to withdraw 3 weeks before classes started due to a financial aid fiasco...so I know what's to come and would be glad to clarify anything for you.

Good luck to everyone and hope to be meeting you all this summer!

:nurse:

from what i've seen on similar message boards for fall 2013, most of the people who were accepted had scores from 690's to 750. i think you still have a good shot with your scores.

Thanks for the encouragement! We will find out soon!

Hey guys! Glad to hear from some fellow Motlow hopefuls. I think you have a good shot as well, Melissa.

Either way, we should find out in just a few short weeks! I'm really hoping the emails go out the 1st week of April like they did last year. The anticipation is already getting to me...lol :nailbiting:

Hey Frenchie, it looks like you have a 705 just like me. Hopefully we will both get in. Hate to hear that you were accepted last year and unable to attend! That stinks!

It sure does! I was beyond discouraged, but it has definitely worked out for the best financially. My husband and I started a savings account specifically for school once all of that happened, so now I'm able to pay out of pocket instead of tacking on more loans to my already heavy load of school debt. Feels good :smug:

I sure hope both of us get in!

Wow! Good for you for not giving up. Maybe you can get some scholarships to help out.

What was your results last year when you were accepted? 705 or higher?

Same. I haven't taken any additional classes so my GPA is the same, and I'm using that HESI score of 90. Hopefully it's good enough to get in this time around.

I also applied for Molows nursing program but at the Smyrna location. I just took the Hesi and received a 81.2...not very good but it was the first time I had ever taken it. My GPA is 4.0. According to the calculations on motlows website, the GPA is worth 300 points and the Hesi is worth 500 points. The highest possible score would be a 800, my results are 705. I'm not sure that's high enough. Last year 800 applied and only 80 were accepted. They are only accepting 80 this year too.

Good luck to you guys!

There weren't 80 accepted last year. There were either 64 or 65 accepted this past fall, with over 800 applicants, which was less than the previous year. This year, they are wanting to accept more, somewhere in the in the mid-70s range. You calculated your score correctly. Most of the people with whom I spoke scored in the mid-80s on the HESI, but you have a 4.0 GPA. I'm thinking there was a person w/ the score of 699 who was accepted last year.

Are you in the program now Jeepchick?

I tried to message you, but it said that you don't accept messages right now. I don't know who actually reads these boards. I was accepted in the program this past fall w/ a 3.855 GPA & 90.4 HESI.

It's hard. I already have a degree, and getting that degree was cake compared to getting a nursing degree. What I've noticed is that the students who have medical experience are testing better than those who don't. There are several CNAs and techs in the program. During one of the first couple of weeks of clinicals (held at a LTC facility) you will have to shadow a CNA. For the CNAs, they are basically doing what they do for work for free, so there is really is a big learning curve. I would advise you to have all non-nursing classes completed before entering the program. You can also take dosage calculations before program acceptance. It's only an hour credit class, but it's one less class that would be needed.

How do you know how many will be accepted this year?

I have a good friend who also applied this year and her score is 675. I'm really hoping we both get it.

This waiting is torture!
