Motlow Applicants 2014

Published

Hey everyone! Just wanted to create a place for potential Motlow Nursing students for fall 2014 to converse, ask questions, and get to know each other. Anyone out there? If so, which campus do you hope to attend? I live near Lavergne, so Smyrna campus will be my home base.

For those of you who have questions about the process over the next 6 months, I went through all of the application/acceptance/orientation/etc steps last year, but had to withdraw 3 weeks before classes started due to a financial aid fiasco...so I know what's to come and would be glad to clarify anything for you.

Good luck to everyone and hope to be meeting you all this summer!

:nurse:

1- Do you recommend littmann classic II or cardiology III? I already ave the SE II (never used it) but something telling me I might miss something with it and cardiology III might be better.

2- do we have to wear our uniform all the time or only during clinical?

3- for my first semester I'll have only Nurs1400 and 1410 classes, would you mind if you tell me little pit about them?

Thank you so Much

There is no need at all for a cardio stethoscope. I used the lightweight my first year (borrowed from my mom) and she bought me a master classic for Christmas, so I've been using that my second year. I love the MC, but I think I liked the lightweight better just because it was lighter weight, lol.. A nursing student does not need a high end stethoscope, it is a waste, imo. I know people who have made it all the way with a cheap stethoscope that came with a BP cuff just fine.

You only have to wear the uniform to clinical. (it's hunter green)

1400 is the main class (I think). 1410 is time wasting online class with papers and discussion assignments. Usually takes a few hours a week. It is mandatory. It's not difficult, just time consuming. First and fourth semester you have an online class of this type.

Are you taking Dosage online through Motlow? I didn't see any online classes offered for the summer

Melissa, I assume this question for me! I'm taking dosage for the current spring 2014. yes they don't offer it in summer either way. I guess you have to wait for fall

Yes...that question was for you! So, you are taking that class online through motlow?

You will be registered at some point over the first couple weeks following orientation

Yes, its online and it it super easy (if you good in basic math then you will do just fine). I worked faster than the plan so I can finish early and I did ! yesterday I took my final exam.

for anyone who needs DOSAGE CALCULATIONS: take it online, no matter how well you are at math I promise the online class is 10000x easier than classroom!!! You get multiple chances at the quizzes and you can use your book. In the class you get one shot at the quizzes with no book! I know a lot of people who almost lost their spot in the program because they were in danger of failing dosage!!

Thank you for this tip! I definitely would've taken it on campus, assuming that was the smarter option. Are we responsible for registering ourselves for dosage, or do we specify to them that we want it online or on campus?

You tell them at orientation and they sign you up

Do we need an oximeter?

No oximeter.

Yes, take dosage online, super duper easy!

Are there any supplies current nursing students think are better to buy at orientation or cheaper there? I have been looking online and the stuff isn't cheap!

Hi, I'm just wondering if anyone would help me get the ISBN for the first semester textbooks?
