Motlow Applicants 2014

Published

Hey everyone! Just wanted to create a place for potential Motlow Nursing students for fall 2014 to converse, ask questions, and get to know each other. Anyone out there? If so, which campus do you hope to attend? I live near Lavergne, so Smyrna campus will be my home base.

For those of you who have questions about the process over the next 6 months, I went through all of the application/acceptance/orientation/etc steps last year, but had to withdraw 3 weeks before classes started due to a financial aid fiasco...so I know what's to come and would be glad to clarify anything for you.

Good luck to everyone and hope to be meeting you all this summer!

:nurse:

The instructors will register you all for your nursing courses for your first semester... You will have to go to the campus that you were accepted to...

My acceptance letter said that by the start of fall semester, seats may be open at your 1st choice campus and will be filled based on class ranking...for those of us who didn't get our 1st choice. I'm crossing all fingers and toes with the hopes that I'll get into Smyrna! But I suppose one semester of driving won't be all that bad if I can squeeze in for spring.

My wife got me a good stethoscope yesterday ;P . And I think I'll use it for school it is littmann classic SE II

That's the one that I plan to buy! I'm glad we finally got our acceptance emails...now I can buy it. :)

I'm curious how many classes you guys done by now? I finished 9 classes plus 2 another classes required for the another 2 years university:

1-English 1010

2-English 1020

I've completed all pre-reqs, with the exception of Eng Comp II, which I'm taking this summer. I'd like to take Dosage Calc prior to the program, but it's not offered at Smyrna campus this summer so I'll take it in the fall. As of right now, I have 27 credits towards my degree...plus another 40 that don't apply. Geesh.

So far I have taken:

1. English I

2. English II

3. Psychology

4. Socialogy

5. Speech

6. A&P I

7. A&P II (Currently taking)

8. Art Appreciation

9. Music appreciation (Currently taking)

10. History I

11. Dosage Calculations (Currently taking)

12. Medical Terminology (Currently taking)

How bad is micro? I'm going to end up having to take it with nursing classes :/

I have taken sooo many classes! Haha I went to UAH in plan to go their nursing school, but changed my mind. I am in micro right now and I love it. It is very interesting and she makes the class about as easy as she possibly can. Plus she is so funny. However, I have taken so many biology classes I find it easier. If you have not taken biology then it will probably be harder.

Micro is kind of deferent than A&Ps, I loved A&P so much ( I got 105 in the muscles lab test) and I got both an A. Micro is alright, I'm taking it now with instructor she is great, but so so hard on you. I heard there is another instructor in Smyrna campus who is really easy going on students but I forgot his name sorry.

For those of you who didn't take dosage yet, then you need to take it online and it is super easy A .you are allowed up 2 attempts for each test, You can take first time then the instructor will grade it, and if you missed something then you can take it one more time and avoid what you missed, but in class is kind of tricky and all folks I met who took in class didn't liked it.

There's only 1 actual class offered this summer for Dosage Calc - it's a M/W/T class at Moore County. I sure wish I could take it online!

By the way, make sure you guys refrain from posting teachers' names. It's a privacy issue on this site. I've seen posts that have been edited by the moderators because of that.

Ops! Thanks for the tip, I edit it

Yeah thanks for the tip, I had no clue!
