Mosby's Cat Helpful??

Published

I was wondering if anyone has found Mosby's Cat useful to prepare for the NCLEx?? Lord knows I have 10 different books and CD's to prepare with but thought this sounded good!

I take the NCLEX on June 28th!!

I have been using it for almost a month. I can't yet tell you if it is helpful, but I take NCLEX on Monday, so I'm sure I will have an opinion next week.

I am using it too, but the only problem with it is that I keep getting some of the same questions and memorizing questions is not what I was looking for. I wonder how good of a predictor it is to tell you how you will do on NCLEX. I think I got a 82% the first time and then a 99% the second. I how it compares to how well you will do on the NCLEX?? Anybody know?

i used mosby's cat for nclex-rn to study for nclex. i thought it was a good confidence booster. enough of one for me to reschedule my exam date to an earlier one after taking the cat and passing it a few times. i took the cat about 5 times before i decided to change my exam date. i passed nclex with 75 questions. i used the printouts of the cat tests as study material. i think if you consistently score at least 94% or above you should be in pretty good shape for nclex.

tmarie,

Thanks for the info re: Mosby's CAT for NCLEX-RN. I took one test and got 99% but I was in denial re: my score. I feel much better now knowing that someone passed after using Mosby's CAT.

zander - I've been thinking about getting this too, I've heard mixed reviews about it.

Check out this thread: https://allnurses.com/forums/showthread.php?t=106014

After seeing what Chris said about it, I think I'm going to get it, sounds like it'd be helpful to me.

Thanks for all of the replies. I decided against it because I have so much NCLEX review material PLUS I am finishing up my Kaplan course this week, I might fall into information overload!!!

Good luck Holli on Monday.....I would love to hear how you did and what you thought the questions were like compared to all of the NCLEX prep questions we are used to. If you wouldn't mind posting to this thread. I could sure use a confidence boost right about now.

Zander,

Thanks for the well wishes!

I will be sure to post to let you know what I thought. I have been using a Saunders CD, Kaplan book and CD, Meds Pub book (and class), Mosby CD, and the CAT. I have never gotten less than 99% probability on the CAT tests. In fact, there have been many times that the test has cut off saying there are no more questions at the current difficulty level. It usually happens on the weekend, so i am thinking it is a programming problem.

I am feeling somewhat confident about the test, and now I am just ready for it to be over. I'll post tomorrow when I get home.
