  1. Congrats delee on your boards and the new grandbaby!!!!!!:monkeydance:
  2. Hi all!!! I have not posted on this site for a while now!! It is so good to finally see some posts on the MN threads!!!! I work at Hennepin County Medical Center in the MICU. I have been an RN for 2 years and I was an LPN for three years before obtaining my RN. Congrats to all who have just passed boards and good luck in your new role as RN's!!!
  3. I think it is great sign that you felt the last ten questions were difficult. However, you can pass or fail at 75 or 250 questions. So 75 can be really good or really bad. BUT for the most part it seems that people who get 75 questions usually pass. :) Let us know if you passed!!! GOOD LUCK, LaVonne RN
  4. :welcome: I'm only one year out and I still have lots to learn. Here is my . ASK those questions even if you think you are annoying your preceptor. You will never know unless you ask. Most likely you are not annoying her, you just think you are because there is so much to learn. However, if this is the case seek out some of the more approachable nurses and ask them your questions. Good luck, LaVonne
  5. HI ALL END OF FIRST YEAR NURSES!!!:balloons: I too graduated last May. When I started there were five new grads. We are all still there!! We have had a great deal of support from our nursing staff. We also had lots of outside ICU classes and 3 months of floor training with a preceptor. Funny thing is...there were two experienced nurses that quit at the end of six months. One was a home care nurse before and decided to go back. I think the other one was just not happy. Did they see some glitches in the system that us new nurses are too green to see???...:uhoh21: time will tell... but for now life in the MICU is all good. LaVonne
  6. I think most hospitals do pay off your loans...but at my hospital it is only if you are planning on going back to school to get a higher degree. So unless I go back I am SOL.
  7. YEP... STILL BROKE. It has been about 1 year for me too. I just keep thinking that it will get better. I am so glad that I like my job and love being a nurse. If not I would have run to work at the coffee shop a long time ago...good to know that pay is the same Good luck to you, LaVonne
  8. danigirl, just keep checking pearson vue's website to see if the state has sent them your info. they will post your att on-line (if that is how you applied) they will also send you one in the mail. you will need to bring your att with you to the testing site. until then study, study, study! good luck, lavonne
  9. hi i took my boards last july. i am not from canada so i hope this helps some re: your question. i paid the mbn and the testing center. i had to wait until my school sent the state my confirmation of graduation info. altogether it took about 2 weeks to get my att. it will be longer depending on how long it takes your school to give the mbn your graduation info. good luck with nclex lavonne
  10. :yeahthat: I went to IH and had a very good experience!! Passed boards the 1st time! Took Kaplan last summer with some students of Normandale and I was very impressed at how prepared they were for boards!! They had the highest diagnostic exam scores!! I hear they have a very HIGH pass for NCLEX rate as well.
  11. Blackberry: Good to hear that you are going to continue with the application process. I think the NICU still has positions available Good Luck, LaVonne
  12. I think it was the VA nursing home that was on the news and not the Medical Center. The nursing home was having staffing issues due to the mandatory overtime and poor working conditions. I have heard wonderful things about the VA hospital. It is a very nice hospital. I had a few trainings there for work. I also had friends that have done some clinicals there and all of them stated that they would work there.
  13. Hi I work at HCMC. :rotfl: I am not sure what the environment is like on NICU but I work on MICU and I have been there for about 6 mo. I love it! However, it can be very stressful During those times the nurses RT's and MD's really work well as a team. :chair: Not too much of eating the young going on re: the nurses. They have been very approachable and willing to teach new things. We are still waiting for the negotiations to be finalized as far as the union goes. I have not heard many negative comments re: the matter. I hope this was helpful. Good luck with you job search, LaVonne
  14. Good luck on your drug test it's not too bad. It is kinda like the final from dosage. I graduated in 2002 and we still call SPTC the school of "Hard Knocks" but you really do learn. If you come to clinical prepared for example know your meds, the pt's plan of care and what kind of outcomes you should be looking for you will be fine. You should also know what type of tx your pt has so you can be prepared to preform the skill. And by the way keep your test out skills "textbook" and you will be fine. They can't say bad things if your by the book!
