More Questions...WTC vs BCT

Published

Hi All,

I read on the internet that prior service people go to WTC instead of BCT. Is this true and what is the difference? I am prior service Coast Guard, did my 4 years, honorably dischared in Jan 1995.

Thank much for any information,

What is the Warrior Transition Course (WTC)?

Warrior Transition course is a 33 day intensive training course designed to provide Air Force, Navy, Marine, and prior service military personnel a reception and integration process into the Army as an alternate to Basic Combat Training. This course will produce a well-disciplined, motivated, physically fit, Soldier, who understands the Army's Values, embedded with Warrior Ethos and is fully prepared for advanced individual training. By all means this is not a "Gentlemans" course.

What should I expect from/at the WTC?

WTC will cover over 250 hours of group instruction in a classroom and field environment to include Basic Rifle Marksmanship (BRM), Map Reading and Land Navigation, First Aid, Urban Operations, Basic Tactical Training (BTT), Convoy Operations, Army Values, Warrior Ethos, and Physical Fitness.

GOOGLE: ARMY + WTC

and you should find a bit more information.

You might also try going to goarmy.com and using the online recruiter chat function. I would ask about the maximum break in service being that you have been out since mid-90's and see if this affects WTC vs BCT.

Just Cause,

Thank you for the information. I did go to goarmy.com before posting here, and the chat function is closed until Monday. I will go to a local office or call the recruiter that I previously spoke with and see what the requirements are.

Thanks again,

Shannon

I may be wrong, but if you commission as a nurse in the ANC, you wont have to go to WTC. You will go to OBLC like everyone else.

Army2be, you are 100% correct - that to move to ANC WTC and BTC not required..or an option.

The Hopster is looking at enlisting as a means to facilitate her education towards her BSN.
