Yeah, I agree, having male nurses around keeps a better perspective and attitude in the atmosphere from what I've seen, for the most part, except for the creepy one that would have this weird smile on his face all the time, but that's beside the point. And if they're crabby, at least it's all month long! (ok, maybe I'll get bashed/flamed for that)
That seems to be the consensus. When I started nursing school in spring, I thought I was going to be the only guy, and probably the old man of the group. I was VERY mistaken. There are about 8 of us in a class of 45, and we all seem to be fitting in pretty well.
Wish me luck, only 1.5yrs to go......
Me:yelclap:

you see... this is what's wrong with women and the world in general.
As a female with over 30 years in the profession, I am certainly ready for more males to join the nursing ranks. Women are much too clickish and catty compared to males. As well, the males don't particularly care if they wear the lastest fashion in scrubwear, or if their nails/hair is in order. Yea, it's true.
I'm a male and will hopefully be starting on my BSN here soon. To me, I have no qualms whatsoever about being a "male nurse," even though I'm not gay. As long as I'm secure in my sexuality I don't owe ANYONE an explanation. And as for those who still question or talk behind my back, well, piss on 'em. Your friends don't require an explanation and your enemies won't believe you. So who cares?
I went out to eat tonight with a friend of mine (who is a guy). We were at a Japanese steakhouse and the guy at the grill asked us where our wives were. I said we were single and he just looked at us like a couple of fruits. I mean honestly! Is this really where we are?

I just read that closed thread, and it disturbed me. I am not trying to open it back up.
I just want to say that I think there are so many positives to men being in this professsion, and men can be nurturing/caring without being gay. I know of some personally.
SO MEN DON'T BE DETERRED! I love yas :welcome:
