Moral character hearing NYS for Nursing license

Published

I took my NCLEX passed and was never issued a license due to my previous record (conviction) 8 years ago. I’m scheduled for a hearing well now it’s virtual. I wanted to know if anyone been to a hearing, how is it like? Do they bring witness. I have some letters from family friends co workers. This is in NYS. Any advise suggestions will be appreciated. Yes I do have an attorney

Hey everyone. I want to say you guys have given me hope that I too will get my license one day but it’s been a long journey. I was stipulated for my lpn in dec 2021 and now I’ve went through the board for my RN license and had the moral character since January of this year and I still haven’t heard anything back. I contact the prosecutor, but they say they’re waiting for the response of the panel and for months I’ve just had anxiety and loosing hope that they will not grant me my RN licensure. Even though I was able to keep my lpn with stipulations. Help please

I looked up the contact information on the states website and actually met with the senator at a veteran committee meeting. I emailed his office and laid out essentially my whole life story, conviction, how I’ve grown from it, and asked for a legislative inquiry to find out the status of my case. They sent back a power of attorney sign off form. I sent it back, and got contacted by the disciplinary office maybe a week later and the rest is history.

Oh OK wow that was so helpful of them to expedite the process. My lawyers have been trying to get updates and the prosecutor keep saying he has no update. But it’s been months now. Thank you for your response

Hi everyone, currently a 4th semester student for my RN, have 2 dwi's from 2017/2018 and recently got my 3rd making it a felony charge..I graduate school in December and am wondering if anyone has any recommended advice in regards of what to do or show to be approved by BON. I am sure with a felony charge my case will go to a moral character hearing. Curious if there is anything I can do to get a head start or if anyone has a similar case and recommended advice. I am in NY state.

You need to contact an attorney that specializes with nursing boards. Listen to every word they say and follow their advice to the letter. Honestly,  this doesn't look good for you
