:yeah:I'm currently a LPN that needs some help I heard from many people that there's a bridge program in Atlanta, Ga where you only meet once a week and finish your degree in nine months. I need the name to the program or number or something.
are most of these programs online based? I would like to know if there are any accelerated program in atlanta that are more campus based. I prefer going into a classroom and going to clinicals that way I have the hands on experience when I am ready to work. I cant learn without the set structure. thank you for your the help;)
Check with the secretary of state in GA to be sure the school is accredited. GA will not let you take the NCLEX and be licensed unless the school is properly accredited.
Be safe and check it out before you start
the LPN-RN bridge in Atlanta (sandy Springs) is at Kaylim Career Institute and they say the classes do meet for 4hours/ once a week. I went for an orientation and it all sounds like a lot of work. Each class is about 8weeks long meeting just one time a week, then you take a test to receive credit. You have to already be licensed as an LPN or EMT because your job is to count as clinical time
The name of the school is Kaylim Career Institute
CEASE & DESIST HEARING - KAYLIM CAREER INSTITUTE
On Thursday, January 14, 2010 a Cease & Desist Hearing was held for Kaylim Career Institute. Dawn Taylor, Board member,
was appointed presiding officer. Representatives from Kaylim Career Institute represented themselves in the proceeding, presented
testimony and evidence. The Georgia Board of Nursing, based on such evidence, and testimony rendered finding and a decision as
follows:
Kaylim Career Institute is not a Board approved nursing education program, as defined in O.C.G.A. Sec. 43-26-3
(1.2), but only assists nursing students by providing tutoring services
The Board finds that use of the phrase "LPN to RN Bridge Program" by Kaylim Career Institute is inherently
misleading in that the phrase implies that Kaylim Career institute operates a nursing education program in which
licensed practical nurses may earn academic credits to become registered professional nurses.
The Board finds that multiple media advertisements, which appear on the internet and elsewhere, which state that
Kaylim Career Institute allows students to earn an associate of science degree in nursing, are also inherently
misleading.
The finding and decision of the Board shall be reduced to a written Public Board order.
My source is http://sos.georgia.gov/plb/rn/minutes/20100113%20January%2014.pdf so if this school is not properly accredited its a useless waste of money and its true it is very misleading and seems like a scam to me. The shortest way isn't always the easiest. Sometimes you have to make sacrifices in order to better yourself. If it were that easy to become an RN there would be a waiting list for that school as long as the land mass of Texas!
