LOW pay in South East FL.
As a fairly inexperienced LPN, a job is hard to come by here in Florida (have only worked in methadone clinic, in GA). In Florida it is extremely competitive when it comes to nursing because we have so many. I know RNs with experience that are working for about $16/hr at UM hospital and wish to live paycheck to paycheck. Sad thing is that in my younger years, I made $15/hr at a call center, with just a diploma.

Ultimate question LPN or RN
I'm an LPN from Miami (moved out of state) now I am headed to central Florida. Jobs as an LPN in Central and South FL are out there but they are hard to get because they also want many years of experience. As an LPN I am looking into programs that will get me to an ADN but the bridge programs are really competitive and I have previous college credits that will hold me back. The option that Ive settled on is to start a BSN program from step one. I agree with many of the other posters, skip LPN program. I wish I would've made up my mind and just started with an Associate RN program because all the prerequisite courses to go from LPN to RN make the route so much longer.

should i continue lpn job searching or get into an rn bridge program?
I got my license in the summer as well (in Florida) and will be relocating to Georgia soon, Im waiting for my license from the board. I have been internet hunting for jobs and for schooling opportunities as well, There doesn't see to be that many LPN bridge programs in the Atlanta area, every program that I have found with good reviews seem to be so far away. i hope someone here in the community can help us both. You are not alone

Reciprocity and getting a license
Everyone please keep in mind that not all 50 states are involved in the reciprocity exchange. For each new state you go to, you must go online to their BON and download the appropriate forms for ENDORSEMENT. If you took your program in one state and are thinking of doing the NCLEX in a second state, I wouldnt reccomend it. It is easier to just do your paaperwork and test in the state that your program is in. (I just waited three months for GA to tell me they wont accept my credits from my program in FL and all of my classmates in FL are already licenssed). Good luck to all

9 month LPN- RN Bridge Programs in Atlanta GA
the LPN-RN bridge in Atlanta (sandy Springs) is at Kaylim Career Institute and they say the classes do meet for 4hours/ once a week. I went for an orientation and it all sounds like a lot of work. Each class is about 8weeks long meeting just one time a week, then you take a test to receive credit. You have to already be licensed as an LPN or EMT because your job is to count as clinical time

are most of these programs online based? I would like to know if there are any accelerated program in atlanta that are more campus based. I prefer going into a classroom and going to clinicals that way I have the hands on experience when I am ready to work. I cant learn without the set structure. thank you for your the help;)
