Here is our new thread ladies (Nikki, Andrea, Kristian, Marissa...and whoever else will be starting at MC this fall).
Speaking of vacations, have you and DH vacationed outside of the US? There's a resort called Excellence and they have locations in Mexico, Dominican Republic and opening soon in Jamaica.
We went to the resort in DR in 2007 and it was amazing! The most relaxing one we've ever had. It's an adults-only, all inclusive resort and they wait on you all day, even at poolside. Those Pina Colodas served in coconuts all day were a hit w/ everyone! Good thing virgin PCs were an option, otherwise we'd all have been too drunk to realize we were frying in the sun! Room service is included and the kitchen is open 24hrs, so you could even order food @ 2AM if you get the munchies. They had just about anything you could want. I think there were 7 restaurants on the resort and as picky as my hubby is, even he enjoyed the food. Sorry to go on and on...just getting excited to experience that again in the future!
Money is tight and finding someone to watch the kids is really challenging. So DH and I don't escape very often. Maybe just for an evening here and there if we are lucky. Neither of us are beach people either. He is very pale (freckles and red hair as a child) and burns easily. I never liked the feel of salt water and sand on my skin. I'm more of a mountains and country and lake kind of girl. I would be the type to book a tropical vacation where I could view the ocean, but would spend my time in the pool, which wouldn't be much. Having been out of the sun so long myself, I too now burn easily.
I totally get money being tight. And it gets tighter if you have kids. For a while we were getting the let's vacay and visit as as many places as possible out of our system before having a child and of course, life doesn't always go as planned.
Yeah, my hubby is more of a mountain man himself. He loves to snow ski, but since I'm a beach person he's let me talk him into doing tropical vacations.
I'm sorry Kristian.
Well half.com contacted me and refunded my money for that textbook that didn't arrive.
Also, the lady who was demanding $20/hr wrote back and said she'd like to meet us and her rates were negotiable, after she read our situation (one income, tuition). She dropped her rate in half! Not sure if I should be thankful but something smells fishy to me. How do you go from $20 to $10/hr? Her original message stated plain as day, $20/hr. Then later she says she meant to tell me it was negotiable? Maybe she is just desperate for work but I am a bit uneasy. Still trying to set up an interview on Sunday with her.
Thanks Nikki.
Glad you got the refund w/out issues.
She started high expecting to meet somewhere in the middle. It's possible she's willing to help you guys out. Plus, how many ppl could or would actually pay her $20/hr? The job market sucks for a lot of industries and w/ ppl having lost their jobs, they're watching their own kids, so nanny jobs may be limited. You'll get a clearer sense of her character when you are face to face.
Kristian, if you haven't gotten the 2011 Drug Handbook yet, I would go for the 2012. It couldn't hurt to have updated information!
Nikki, $20 is outrageous! But I agree with Kristian that she probably started high to leave room for negotiation. I hope your interview goes well!
Hubby and I have been to Cozumel, Mexico and Ochos Rios, Jamaica but as part of a cruise package so we never stayed in a resort at either place. But we loved Cozumel so much that we've been dying to go back. A resort like that sounds HEAVENLY!!! I'll def have to keep it in mind...Kristian, do you know what part of Mexico that particular resort is in? A friend of mine goes to DR every summer for 2 weeks to visit family; she loves the beaches there! I wish we had money to go out of the country this year, but our beach vacations will be limited to Ocean City this summer for lack of funds lol. It's nice that my stepdad has a condo out there so we don't have to pay for a place to stay.
I am TOTALLY and COMPLETELY a beach bum! Lol I could stay on the beach all day, literally. Hubby doesn't mind the beach but after a few hours he's had enough. Same with our son. We do like the mountains too...our friend has a cabin in the West Virginia mountains that we visit a few times a year for hiking, biking, fishing, etc. But I will always be more of a beach girl
Nikki, I'm so glad you were able to get the refund without any issues. That must be a relief!
I just got my new book bag in the mail and it's perfect! Still waiting on my 2 watches. Getting nervous/excited about registration...So jealous that you guys get to do yours first! I don't know if I can stand the wait much longer!
Hey Andrea, already got the 2011, but should get the 2012. I might still be able to return it.
They have a resort in Riviera Cancun and Playa Mujeres.

Yeah, it's been a while since we've been outside of the US. We're trying to plan a 2-3wk trip to S. Korea and Japan w/ my parents for 2013. Our plan for spring of this yr fell through. It would be a nice "prize" for graduating from the program and hopefully I'll have a job lined up for when we get back. My hubby and I are thinking this may be our last opportunity for an extended vacay w/ my parents since it's getting more stressful for my dad to travel long distances.
My BF's boss goes to DR every summer too. He bought a house there and stays about a month each yr. That's when the party begins @ her office lol!
Glad to hear your bag is perfect! I'm still not sure about mine...
Don't be jealous, it'll be soon enough. By next wknd, registration will be completed.
Woo hoo!!
Oh no Kristian...that sucks! I haven't entered the access code but it sounds like it's not much to look at.
Going to South Korea and Japan would be an AMAZING "prize" for graduating from the program, especially for 2-3 weeks! And it gives you something nice to work towards (besides becoming a nurse! lol)

I messaged Lidith back about getting together and also told her about our thread and the yahoo group. Haven't received a follow-up yet.
