Here is our new thread ladies (Nikki, Andrea, Kristian, Marissa...and whoever else will be starting at MC this fall).

LOL did any of your neighbors see you?! I'm cracking up thinking about the lawnmower mowing the lawn by itself as you're running away screaming! LOL. Thank goodness no one else was around tonight because I was cursing up a storm and hobbling back to the house. My poor dog was whining and making me trip over him cuz he was concerned lol...I was just like "Sammy! Hurry up and walk so I can get back to the house and put ice on my foot!!"

Thanks. Will ck on that.

LOL!

Yup, I had witness. Still get laughs about that. And my parents were driving up the driveway at the same time wondering what the heck I was doing. Yeah, I think it could've been a top contender on America's Funniest Videos.

Oh man, I'm so sorry about your bee sting Andrea. No allergies I assume?

Kristian, that image is totally hillarious. Bees like honey. We'll have to nickname you sweet cheeks. :-) LOL

As for what else I need to get: I'm not purchasing any of the optional books until I hear they prove to be useful. I don't want to waste the money so I only purchased the required materials. I'm just going to use my messenger bag for clinicals, if that. If we don't have a locker then I'd rather not bring anything that I can't fit in my pockets.

Yes, Prof. M said 1 uniform if you are working 1 day a week and 2 if you will be working 2 days a week.

My next Hep B shot is Aug. 3. One more after that and that should be it.

I got a few more responses tonight from my posting. I'm about to go check them out. I wasn't as impressed with their initial email as that first gal so we shall see.

LOL Nikki, I love that nick name for Kristian!! Hilarious! :)

My sting feels a little better today but MAN that pain was serious last night. I've always had the utmost respect for bees...I try to stay as far away from them as I can, so this was totally an accident of nature. I'll just have to be EXTRA careful next time I step outside lol.

You're right Nikki; if we don't have a safe place to put our belongings, I'll most likely only bring what can fit into my scrub pockets (although that would make having a storage clipboard that much more convenient!). Hopefully though, we're going to get a space of some sort; especially for those of us that will be there all day long.

FYI - Borders is going out of business and they are starting their liquidation process today. Everything is up to 40% off. So if there are some things you wanted for school or otherwise, go check them out.

Wow! Borders is going out of business?!?! That's insane! I used to work there when I was 20; only for a year and in the cafe but still....thanks Nikki, I'll definitely go and grab some books for Dominic (and maybe even a few for myself!)

I failed to put it on my calendar. What time does registration start on Tues, 1pm??? I guess I should go get my paperwork and check.

Ya they just announced it in the past few in days. I guess they were trying to sell it and no one would buy. They said that the economy, the changing book dynamic (ereaders, etc), and competition (B&N and Amazon) all contributed to their demise.

Well I ended up getting a total of 4 other responses to my job posting last night. I had to turn down two of them right off the bat because they didn't have their own transportation, which might be necessary if they are to take my kids anywhere. The other two I wasn't impressed with but asked them to send me their resumes. I also found a couple of gals on the site that I liked and tried to contact them. Hopefully they respond.

I'm going to head to Borders later this morning I think. I will check out their nursing section, toys, movies, and kids books. I'm sure the deals won't be as good right now as they would be closer to the actual shutter date (not exactly sure when that is). It is sad to see them go though. There is one down the street from us and my family and I go down there frequently on weekends. DH and I would get a cup of coffee and the boys would get a snack. Then we'd hang out in the children's section. Nothing too exciting but it was something to do when it was too cold/hot outside.

You guys crack me up! Hey, first time I actually had some junk in the trunk.

Andrea, glad your foot's feeling better.

Nikki thanks for the info. That's too bad for Borders, sad- they've been around a long time.

Kristian (aka sweet cheeks), you can have my trunk junk anytime you want it. I'll even set up the appointment. :-)
