Montgomery College, Fall 2011, 1st semester students

Published

Here is our new thread ladies (Nikki, Andrea, Kristian, Marissa...and whoever else will be starting at MC this fall).

I think 3 options is wise Kristian. I was thinking the same thing. It all depends on that lottery number.

Andrea - let me know if UMD takes insurance. If so, I will call and see if they will take mine and maybe just do it all there as well.

Yes, I just want to relieve some of the stress/pressure and get some things accomplished. Has anyone done to precheck stuff yet?

As for class schedules, I think my 1st choice would be this:

NU 105

M @ 10:00-10:50am

NU 110

M @ 12:00-3:50pm

NU 121

F @ 10:00am-12:50pm

Clinical

W @ Suburban/WAH 7:00am-5:10pm

My 2nd choice would be this:

NU 105

M @ 2:00-2:50pm

NU 110

M @ 4:00-7:50pm

NU 121

M @ 8:00-10:50am

Clinical

T/W @ MGH 3:00-8:10pm

Hopefully I won't choose such a low number that I'd have to go with a third choice! I haven't thought that far ahead...lol

I'm trying to stick to a 3-days a week schedule for classes & clinical(s). And I only want my mom to have to take my son to school ONE day a week if I can help it.

Just called UMD Health Center...they don't accept any insurance outside of their own which I believe is only for their students.

Thanks for the info Andrea. I had a feeling they wouldn't take insurance. I guess I will go with my own physician and hopefully he can do stuff in office or send me to Labcorp or Qwest for the other stuff.

I just completed the Precheck stuff. Hopefully I didn't make any mistakes.

Thanks for all the info! All this schd. planning is giving me a headache!

I'll let you all know about my appt @ UMD tomorrow.

On the UMD Health Center sheet we received, we don't need to get the Urine Drug Screen, T-Spot (TB Test), or the Chest X-ray (unless our PPD test comes out positive)?? Am I right on this? Isn't the PPD test a TB test? And the drug screen comes from PreCheck? I'm a little confused about why they'd put those on there if we don't need to worry about them...

Yeah, I think I am done for the day. My brain is now fried from researching and working on this stuff all day. My little one should be waking up from nap any time now (ya, he sleeps late). I've spent enough money today on textbooks and precheck stuff that I should just call it a day. Aside from spending more money on equipment and books, there really isn't much more I can do anyway.

I think you are correct Andrea. We can't get the urine drug/alcohol test until we get that form on July 26/28 with payment confirmation to Precheck. As for the TB test, sounds right but I'm not certain. I found that whole section of discussion yesterday very confusing.

Yeah, that part was confusing for me too. I'm assuming the NP will know exactly what MC students need, right? As for the drug/alc./bg cks, it is through Precheck and we need to bring proof of payment at registration.

Yikes, just came across this. For anyone considering Shady Grove. Now I am really debating it.
