Here is our new thread ladies (Nikki, Andrea, Kristian, Marissa...and whoever else will be starting at MC this fall).
Kristian - yes, I was actually leaning towards those two afternoon options myself, at MG or SG. I couldn't find any info about the SG professor, Knopp, but the reviews for the MG professor, Mansir, were really good. I'd like to go that route but the drive to MG is farther for me. How far is it from you? Google said it was about a 35 minute drive, whereas SG is basically a straight shot down the freeway for me. I wonder what the most desired locations/time slots are.
I just won one of my textbooks on ebay. The bidding wars have started though, now that we've had orientation. I got the Fundamentals in Nursing for like $37 used w/CD. Said it was in Like New condition.
Yeah, I was looking at reviews last night. My husband's telling me not to worry about the reviews and go for the schd. that I want. I saw both Mansir and Robinson had good reviews and a some other had very bad reviews. MG is about the same distance from me. I was thinking I'd take the ICC. Of course, a closer site would be more convenient. I'm thinking most students want a site closer to work or home. Will you let me know what you decide?
$37 is a good price. I got Fund. in Nursing from ebay too. I'm a bit annoyed that it has the sellers name on it, which is clearly visible. Otherwise, it's in very good cond. and the CD works.
Did you want to try to be in the same clinicals Kristian????
I like to look at the prof ratings because if they are horrific then I want to stay clear. I really like Mansir's ratings. Wish I could find something on Knopp. I prefer not to do mornings.
What class schedule are you looking at? I'm now tempted to do a full day on Mondays after that drive home yesterday. It took me at least 30 minutes just to drive 2 miles to the freeway on Georgia ave yesterday. Is there a better way to get to 495 from there? Of course if I do the all day option then I'd likely be in traffic in the morning and the afternoon.
What did you pay for your textbook? I just kept getting outbid for another book and found it on half.com for a decent price so I just opted for that. I think I will take pause on the textbooks for now. I can't believe we are getting a reading assignment during registration.
It would be good to be @ clinicals together-good for support, don't you think? Yeah, I was trying to avoid the ones w/ bad reviews. I'm wondering if no review is better than a bad one. At least we know what we can expect. I'm leaning towards all day Mon class schd. That way I'll be @ school or clinicals 2-3, 4 max a week (for other lab time). That traffic was a huge pain, it took me 50 mins to get on the beltway. I think anywhere in that general area normally has heavy traffic @ that hr.
I paid around $24. I got lucky. I know, the reading assign was a surprise- they mean business.
wow, $24 is awesome!
I was thinking an hour before but I wouldn't be suprised if people are there earlier. Maybe 1.5 hours??? Maybe I will bring a bagged lunch and sit and read as I wait.
I agree, it would be nice to have a familiar face in clinicals. I am going to keep researching for Knopp and see if I come up with something. But since SG is closer I will likely go with the afternoon clinical there as my first option and the afternoon clinical at MG as my second.

I think Prof. Matthews said a whisper test is sufficient.
