Here is our new thread ladies (Nikki, Andrea, Kristian, Marissa...and whoever else will be starting at MC this fall).
Marissa, I'm so sorry to hear about the health issues in your family. My grandmother was diagnosed with colon cancer a few years ago. Thankfully, it was caught early and the radiation seems to have gotten rid of it for now but we are all still on pins and needles hoping for a full remission. I will keep your family in my thoughts and prayers...
As for a study/support group, I am all for it! I agree with Nikki that it would be hard to coordinate face time with each other due to our individual schedules. I don't know anything about making groups on Yahoo or on this website so just keep me informed as to what you all decide is the best way to do it. I'm so glad I'm going into school already having a group of ladies I can draw encouragement from! :)
I agree completely. I'm very grateful as well.
As we get older, we will know or know of more people with health issues. It's comforting to know that I have a group of kind and warm women to share my thoughts, fears, and even joys. My thoughts are with you and your families.
Marissa, I recently contacted the Alzheimer's Assoc. for support groups. Let me know if you want me to forward info to you.
As for getting together, I'm sure we'll work it out somehow.
Is anyone familiar w/ Spark Charts? The Nursing Spark Chart is a helpful reference to have @ clinicals. Available at Barnes and Noble and the charts can be downloaded.

Kristian - I saw you are facebook friends with Lidith (Edita) Perez. I took BI204 with her and we chat from time to time, most recently about the TEAS. Thanks for the info on the watch. I have it saved on my ebay watch list and will likely wait until orientation to make sure they will be allowed and they don't have some weird rules about them, since I can't really return it.
Marissa - I hope things are improving for your dad and sister.
If you all want to do a Yahoo group I can set that up. Or if you opt to go another route that is fine too, just keep me updated.
Hey Nikki- we had BI 203 together and we still keep in touch. Were we talking about the same person regarding the Teas? It's a good idea to wait on the watch if you're getting it primarily to wear for clinicals.
And yes, Marissa, pls keep us updated.
Sure, if you want to get it started on Yahoo...do I need a yahoo account?
I didn't know you ladies were on Facebook! I'll search for you, and the MC lab too! I have a Yahoo account, so I'm up for joining a group on there. Just let me know the details.
Kristian, I actually did see that Spark Chart at Barnes & Noble a few weeks ago. I'm so mad I didn't buy it at the time, but I'm definitely going to order it on Amazon with my other books. It looks really helpful. I've heard about clipboards that have storage in them to hold things like that and calculators, etc. I've never seen one myself but I hear they're sold for less than $5 at Wal-Mart (the clipboards). I'll have to look into that for clinicals.
Marissa, I'm still keeping your family in my thoughts. Keep us updated!
Less than 5 more days everyone!! :)
What are your "official" Facebook names? And what do your profile pics look like so I can find you easier? If you wanna try and see if you can find me first, my Facebook name is "Andrea Perdomo Inman" and my profile pic is of a little boy holding a snake (lol, my son held a bull python at the Maryland Science Center last week! Now he wants one!!).

He will be 78 in Dec. I started noticing certain memory impairments about 4 yrs ago...loosing train of thought, not able to find the right words. Unfortunately at the time, my mom kept it from us and diagnosis was delayed. He's been taking Aricept (sp?). Helped some, at least it's slowed down the progression. Now, he's taking a diff. med, can't remember the name...suppose to keep aggression under control...he gets physical sometimes when frustrated and annoyed. Luckily so far it's been nothing serious. My husband and I have started planning for living arrangements to care for my dad down the line.
