Montgomery College, Fall 2011, 1st semester students

Published

Here is our new thread ladies (Nikki, Andrea, Kristian, Marissa...and whoever else will be starting at MC this fall).

I too thought it was a big truck but I didn't hear anything outside. Then it got stronger and I realized what was happening. I sprang from the couch where I had just finished my sandwich and when Lucas saw me freak out he panicked. Luckily it died down after that and we quickly calmed down and got back to our normal routine.

I am hoping to be done before the weekend too. My MIL will be here and it would be rude to excuse myself to study. Although I doubt I will get the notes done in addition to the remaining calculations chapters.

It appears that DC is shutting down and hubby will be coming home. Woohoo! Could even be closed tomorrow too, but I doubt it.

Just got an email from Fentons...uniforms are ready, except tunic. I will probably wait until it is all ready unless I need something before then.

Got my email too! Kinda sucks that they don't have the tunics yet. I wonder why it takes so long?? I'll probably wait until that comes in too.

How nice that your hubby got off work early today! Mine still had to go in tonight :( But he's off all next week so he can stay with Dominic while I go to classes. Dominic doesn't start Pre-K until Sept. 12!!! That's what sucks about sending him to a private school. There are so many days off that do not follow Montgomery County's days off. Good thing Wed. are the only days of concern. I hope I'm still lucky enough to get a good schedule next semester...

Yeah, that was freaky...I think we've had 3 in the past 8yrs. My brother's building in Chantilly was evacuated after the quake, they didn't have a building engineer present so everyone was sent home.

I just read the email about our order. Debating on waiting or picking up what's ready.

Thanks Andrea, I've been in that study mode lately and thought I'd better take advantage of it...but now it's starting to wear off, ah oh... lol.

I was told by Fenton's that the tunic is a new item and it has to be manufactured. That is why it is taking longer.

I think most preschools start after labor day in the county. I too hope I get a good schedule next semester. I was looking at the schedule for spring and it looks like we only take 2 classes and they are accelerated so technically, you take one at a time. Of course, I could be reading that wrong. But if not, who knows how time consuming just one class will be. Look at NU110. I'm hoping next semester to condense it as much as I can as far as number of days that I have to go. I think with the commute it will just be easier for me. And that way I don't have to be worried about rushing around and needing to be somewhere by a certain time the rest of the week.

Oh yeah...Dirk didn't come home early. He decided to ride it out a bit since the traffic was so bad. It seems that in the past, whenever he is told the building is closed, it really isn't. So he went back to working and just left. It kinda sucks cause I was hoping we could go to RIO and enjoy the weather with the boys.

I'm finished w/ ch. 14! YAY! The dosage calculations were fun to do.

It would be nice to have an ideal schd. for the 2nd semester...for now I'll just concentrate on the 1st.

Nikki, that sucks Dirk didn't get home early, the weather was perfect to be out today. I heard traffic was horrible even before 3:30.

The chapter review for Ch. 8 is soooo loooong!!! Lol...halfway through though.

Thanks for the e-mail Nikki! Good to know we'll be able to use calculators to avoid little mistakes :)

Those rule boxes are great for note cards! Wondering if I'll have the time (or energy) to make those before school starts Monday...

I hope you guys can make it to The Greene Turtle tonight. Again, it's the one in Olney around 9:00.

Btw, did you guys do the apothecary problems in Ch. 8 for the chapter review? I've been doing them because they convert to the metric system, but I wonder if we really have to know that? From what I've heard, the apothecary system has pretty much been banned from use in most hospitals.

Hey Andrea, yeah ch. 8 is long...ch. 13 and 14 also took a while to complete. I took notes on cards while going through the problems. I'm hoping to finish the remaining chapts. today. Most likely though, I'll get through 2 more...still need to get some other things done before tomorrow morning.

I did do the apothecary problems. Thought it would be good practice in case (albeit unlikely) we run into it. Who knows, one or more hospitals may still use apothecary measures for some type of syringes, or medicine cups.

I'll try to make it tonight.

Nikki, thanks for the email. Relieved to know we will have access to a calculator!

BTW, we still need our lab coat for NU110L next wk, right? Won't we be in the lab for the first 3 wks of clinical?
