Here is our new thread ladies (Nikki, Andrea, Kristian, Marissa...and whoever else will be starting at MC this fall).

Specializes in Future CRNA or Nurse Practitioner.

Thanks Nikki! That sucks about no calculators. Like I said, I haven't even looked at that book yet. The test isn't until October though right? Will it just be on those chapters? I HATE math. I am okay at it, but I do NOT like it. Algebra and arithmetic are okay, but geometry and trig...forget about it. I hope there's none of that on the test. I wouldn't think so since it's mostly calculations but who knows? Not sure if I'm gonna make it up to school today. Hubby's still exhausted from this weekend and he had to work last night. He's been sleeping since 8am and I'm just now waking him up but it's taking him awhile to get out of bed. I may just go tomorrow if I can drop Dominic off at my friend's house with the pool. I hate taking him with me to school. I'd also like to get my ID while I'm up there. Any word from Fenton's yet? I haven't heard anything...I wonder how long it'll take them to get their shipment.

Yeah, not too happy about the math. Was never good in math and hated it. Even algebra. I didn't think there would be a lot of math in the nursing field. I figured the doc would be the one dosing the meds and such but now I see the reasons for it. At least it isn't tough math like trig and calculus. This stuff I can handle, I just didn't think I'd have to be reviewing it again.

When I went to Fentons they told me end of August. I said, "isn't that cutting it close?" The lady didn't seem too concerned, I guess because we don't go on location until mid September.

Andrea - the Calculating reading is to be done before school starts. We are supposed to be able to take practice tests, I believe, at that point to prepare for the exam.

Yeah, calculating dosage is making me nervous. We are not allowed a calculator for any of the dosage calculations? Careless mistakes happen all the time when doing math in one's head. As long as we know how to set up a problem, what's the issue w/ using one?

We have to learn how to be able to do it. I would think use of a calculator later on would be ok, though now that I think about it, I usually don't see docs using them when the do their calculations. As a patient, I would prefer my health caregivers use a calculator.

I just cancelled my backpack order. They sent me another delayed shipment with an expected arrival of 8/23. Given the number of times I've received these updates I thought it best to err on the side of caution because the chances were they'd delay it again and then I'd have nothing. So back to the backpack search.

Heading out to take Lucas to the doc for his annual checkup.

Nikki, you got the backpack from luggage.com? What a pain. Yeah, it's a good idea to look elsewhere. Are you planning to get the same brand?

Ok girls, I called PreCheck. Test is completed and got my test results via email.

All is good! FYI, it's a 10 panel test, not 5 like most tests.

ya, I got it from luggage.com. I don't know if I will get the same thing. The bag was expensive and they had it at a great deal so to save money I might opt for something cheaper.

Do they automatically email the results to you or do I have to call?

No, not automatic. When I called to check on the status, the rep asked if I wanted a copy emailed.

You did get a good price for the bag. I saw some other Jansport bags on ebags.com. They are offering free ship and there are coupon codes: try LINK15OFF, don't know if you'll get the combined discount though. And I think it's no tax for MD.

Ya, I am looking at ebags now.

What number did you call? I got mine before you so mine should be done by now too. If I failed I would have thought someone would have let me know.
