Montgomery College, Fall 2011, 1st semester students

Here is our new thread ladies (Nikki, Andrea, Kristian, Marissa...and whoever else will be starting at MC this fall).

Haven't ordered just yet. Trying to figure out what else to order to meet the free shipping minimum. The reels and holders have shipping charges. Will I even see you guys before you would need these to hand them off?

How much more to meet free shipping? Do you need any pencils, dividers, pens, folders, binders, printing paper...? Not sure about Andrea, but I'll see you on the 30th on campus.

$10. I don't think I need more school supplies. I have some binders from previous classes that I can reuse. I'm asking Dirk if he needs anything.

I know how you're feeling. Although I'm excited to get started, I'm also very nervous and anxious. I'm sure most of our fellow classmates are feeling it too.

Hey ladies! Just got back from the doctor's office. Got my 2nd MMR and Hep B shots, and they gave me a nice little print-out to give to the nursing department. I'll probably go up there later this afternoon.

Needless to say, I didn't get much reading in over the weekend ;) But what I've been doing for notes is index cards for the key terms and I'm answering the objectives that are found on the first page of every chapter. Almost done with Ch. 34, so hopefully I'll start 38 tonight or tomorrow. Haven't even looked at Calculating with Confidence yet, but I'm gonna buy the ATI thing sometime this week.

Checked my drug/alcohol report again today...still nothing. I'm going to call the PreCheck lady I spoke with on the phone last week and ask her what the hold up is. We have one week from today to have everything in and unless I see my report up on the website, I won't believe it's been completed correctly. Have either of you seen your results?

I'm VERY excited for school to start! I still have a little bit of back-to-school shopping to do, but I'll definitely check out 5 & Below after hearing about your great deals!

We had a great time in OC. Laid on the beach all day, went out for dinner, drinks, and dancing all night. But the best part? SLEEPING IN!!! As late as I wanted to (which was around 10am). I haven't done that in yeeeearrs!!! Lol how sad is that? We're gonna have to go back for the weekend of Sept. 16-18 cuz my stepdad and his fiance will be getting married down there; so I can't WAIT to go back! :) But glad to be home...I missed Dominic (although he had a terrific weekend without us!) and, kind of pathetic to say, but I missed preparing for school! LOL I'm sure I'll get over that quickly!

Hey Andrea, welcome back! So you decided to go w/ the 2nd MMR instead of the titer? I'm wondering if I should have done that instead of the titer. That's a good idea w/ answering the objectives for each chapter.

I cked out PreCheck yesterday. It has the drug/alc. tests as completed but no results. But does that mean it's completed cuz we submitted the urine sample or has the test actually been completed. I don't think we get a copy of our drug/alc test though.

Sounds like you guys had a terrific time, and to be able to sleep in...that was nice. Would love to lay on the beach and soak in the sun for a bit. I guess I'll have to settle for the pool and pretend I'm at the beach lol!

Thanks Kristian! Yeah, I figured doing the 2nd MMR would be cheaper than doing a titer again and possibly having that still come back low and then I'd have to get the shot anyway. It also may protect me longer to just re-do the whole series. My insurance covered the first round, so I'm hoping they do again.

PreCheck says my blood/alcohol test is completed also, but no report. Did Professor Matthews say we wouldn't have access to the report? I don't remember that, but maybe she did. I didn't call yet...been busy unpacking and cleaning the house (amazing how I left it immaculate on Thursday night and it's now atrocious again!). Still hoping to drop off my immunization record this afternoon; maybe I can ask someone then.

I've been such a pool rat this summer! A friend of mine has one in her backyard and she only lives about 2 miles away so I take Dominic there 3-4 times a week. He's learned to swim on his own which I'm thrilled about and I have gotten an amazing tan that's sure to last me til next summer! ;)

Glad you had fun Andrea. It is good to have a break and time for yourself once in awhile.

I think the precheck thing said completed as soon as we paid for it. I emailed them over the weekend inquiring as to whether we'd be able to see posted results, etc. I haven't heard back.

I've started the calculating textbook. I'm just going to take the pretest to see where I need help, rather than doing all of the math review chapters. It stinks. I feel like I just learned how to do all this stuff when I took the teas, not so long ago, and already see I've lost some of the skills I learned. I guess that is easy to do when you don't use it. No calculators allowed. :-(
