Montefiore School of Nursing Spring 2016 Applicants

Hello Guys! Figured I'd start a new thread on Montefiore SON for Spring 2016 since I haven't been able to find one. Anyone out there in the process of Applying to their nursing program? I called them yesterday and was told they will be sending out Exam invitations soon. Where are you in your process??

I know you were upset cus I was so upset when I saw that. But I am not surprised. I always doubt myself and change stuff. My professors in LPN school used to get on me for that as well.

Thanks. The reading was very easy, I only read them once. My trick is to read the questions FIRST. because sometimes they ask you something relating to only 2 or 3 paragraphs reading the whole thing would then be a waste.

I took your advice and called Montefiore to inquire as to whether or not they have accepted students with a 80 on the KAT and a 3.85 GPA.

The lady on the phone was SOOOO RUDE!!

First of all she Yells at me like "NO WAY! I CANT TELL YOU THAT!! THERE COULD BE PEOPLE WITH A BETTER SCORE THEN YOU LIKE IN THE 90s!!! AND THEN WE DEFINITELY WOULDNT BE TAKING YOU!!!.

I understand her logic and I understand what she means but she didnt have to yell at me or make it sound like that is all you care about.

First off the KAT to me is a dumb test. (but thats just me) and to say that one exam gives a full representation of a student is ridiculous. A GPA on the other hand is a combined score of all the full semester classes that you take.

That is reliability! if you are looking to see whether a person will succeed or fail.

The same way a person can have a 2.5 GPA and ace an entrance exam, does that mean they will be a better student. I think NOT. Going through LPN school taught me that. There were people there who aced the entrance exam and in 3 months were failing ALL their exams and were terminated from the program.

How can a building stand without a FIRM foundation??

Im sorry to Vent like this and maybe I am totally wrong but I dont appreciate the way I was just belittled and yelled at for asking a question.

It makes me SOOO glad that I have also applied to Cochran and that Montefiore school is not my only option.

Oh wow!

I am so surprise by that comment every time i have spoken to them they have been very welcoming Maybe she wasn't having a good day- who knows? And yes I agree with you about the entrance exam it should be for people below a certain GPA to ensure their success in nursing school but its a matter of opinion. Just don't let her comment paint a negative picture of all the staff there. keep doing what you are doing and enjoy fact that you did pass the exam. I do know you can summit your score but its up to you if you want to pursuit that route or retake the exam again but either way you will do fine!

That is horrible and I completely agree with you on that one. I think that I spoke to the same lady but she was that rude, she wasn't just a little short with me as if me calling was annoying her.

Took the test today. Got a 66 overall. Very sad because I have no other options that will work with my current work schedule. I studied but between the stupid calculator, my nerves and a woman next to me sniffling every 5 mins. I just blew my future. I wasn't prepared for the writing at all I'm really sad .. But I wish everyone who did take it or who is preparing to, best of luck.

do not worry, now that you took that test you already know what kind of questions will be on it. Study what you know is on the test and next year you will do excellent. It is not the end of the world, you can study and try again

Nope. Can't. Took the TEAS there last year. I passed but didn't make it in the program. Reapplied this year and didn't make the cut on the KAT exam. I really don't know what I'm going to do now as this is my only option. I'm considering just to shelf this dream because if I can't pass the entrance exam, I'm probably just not good enough to go through the rigours of the program.
