Montefiore School of Nursing Spring 2016 Applicants

Updated:   Published

Hello Guys! Figured I'd start a new thread on Montefiore SON for Spring 2016 since I haven't been able to find one. Anyone out there in the process of Applying to their nursing program? I called them yesterday and was told they will be sending out Exam invitations soon. Where are you in your process??

Your welcome! I feel 1/2 good but I what I would like to know is how many applicants are taking this test. There are only 35 seats available and the admission is based on 95% on the Kaplan score then the last 5% on GPA. But we gotta to keep our hopes up right?!

Where did u get that info from?

I spoke to the admission lady...

Is there anyone taking the kaplan on october 5th? Am takin it on that day?

Is there anyone taking the kaplan on october 5th at montefiore ? Am takin it on that day?

Based on your multiple post I just want to tell you to take a deep breath- You will be fine! Good luck..

So I just finished taking my kaplan exam at montefiore but I don't understand the graded. It says overall 57 and critical thinking 71%. So which one is my score? Starting to feel bad

Your score is the first score on the top screen and critical thinking is a separate score... How many people were there taking the test?

just 3 of us took the kaplan at montefiore. so that means i fail and am not getting in.

exactly! I actually just pushed the date back from 9/23 to 10/7 for cochran SON because I am already registered to take 2 clep exams next week and want to give myself time to really focus, I was thinking that same thing that i should aim to do well on the test the 1st time so i can just submit the score to Montefiore school as well. My Monte test date is 10/23.

Hey, how did the test go?

hello Everyone

I took the Kaplan test today. I earned an overall score of 67% and 70% in critical thinking.

This is my perception:

Math: I got a 63%

The calculator for the math section sucks, it does not even let you use the percentage button. The math was very basic and consists of fractions, percentages, probability, operations, and ratio.

I got 100% in operations, I think 60% in all other sections.

Reading: I got a 73%

It consists of reading passages and the questions were regarding what sentence is out of place in the paragraph or where would you add another paragraph etc.

Science: I got a 75%

This section is strictly A and P I and II. It tests the cardiovascular, renal, hematologic, immune, neurologic, homeostasis, respiratory and the others ones that are mentioned in the letter they send you. I got 100% in 5 of the sections but lower scores in the rest. The questions are very specific, ex. What is the proper flow of blood going to the heart and back out to the body? 1. from the body to the left atrium, then left ventricle, then to the lungs, then to the right atrium, to the right ventricle etc.

Writing: I got a 60 something, can't remember.

This part also consists of passages that you have to read and then answer the questions regarding what word is out of place in a certain paragraph or what sentence should be deleted etc.

I was so focused on the science section that I did not review the math or reading as much and after the test, I felt stupid getting a low score in these sections because it is very basic high school, maybe even elementary stuff. I would suggest reviewing the math, reading, and writing so that you get a high score in this and that way even if you get a low score in science, your overall score would be higher.

Hopefully, I get in since my GPA is 3.56 and I got A's and B's in all my prerequisites.

I will pray that you all get high scores and are able to secure a slot.

Lacevedo Thanks for the update. Yes, the calculator for the math section was horrible for me too.. We need to keep our hopes high and see what happens.. By the way, how many people where there taking the test?
