Monroe College Accelerated 2nd Degree Nursing Program

Published

Hey!

Has anyone been accepted to this Monroe college program? I know they used to have it and recently bought it back. Any thought?

Hi girl, do you mind to let me know how much Financial Aid cover? Since this will be my second degree, I worry about how much Federal will help....

I owe $3k a semester for fall and Winter. Tuition is close to 19k for both semesters in total.

How about Summer? They said financial aid cover 3 semesters. Can we do payment plan for what we owe? I was looking for private student loan, and Monroe said they don't have, they only have Federal cover. If we still needed more, we need to borrow outside.

They only gave me my fall and Winter not my Spring estimate. I have a meeting Wednesday with my financial aid advisor. I'm going to set up a payment plan then. But they're going to want 1/2 up front to start the payment plan. I want to look into outside loans.

Hello, anyone currently at Monroe College and has started taking the main nursing classes, I need advice. I am currently taking my last set of pre-req and will be starting the main nursing classes this fall. So far my grades has been good but wondering if the main nursing courses will be harder than normal because of how most people say “nursing school is hard”  I just got my schedule and my classes are Monday - Wednesday for online class and I guess the clinicals will be Thursday and fridays. I just wanted to find out how the nursing classes are, is it very rigorous? Is it feasible for a pregnant woman with no complications to go through the semester and be successful at it or would you advice I take a break because the classes might be too stressful? I like the fact that it’s online but I am more concerned about the clinicals.I just want to be able to prepare myself for the task ahead and be sure I do well no matter the circumstance.  I would really appreciate if anyone can help with this details. Thank you so much.

It’s ALOT of work. If you’re not working I think you’ll be fine. There are people who are working full time in my cohort as well. I think it’s definitely doable tho, if you put the time in you’ll do well but it’s a lot of work and time consuming. I’m in my 2nd semester of nursing classes, and I have one more left. I will the 2nd semester was a bit more work than then 1st semester. So I don’t think you need to take time off

For my cohorts first semester of nursing courses, we had classes Mondays and Wednesdays and we had clinical the other 3 days, all virtual, but we did have to go in a couple of times

Thank you @anlm93 . This gives me hope , I was really concerned about it. Now, I can focus on giving my best. My job is quite flexible, I work at my own time and when baby arrives, I will be home most times except I have to go out for clinicals. I appreciate your reply. I wish you all the best of success!

Hi are the online classes where we have to meet at a certain time each day or we work at our own pace and have deadlines?

Mix of both, mostly meeting times

I was registered for classes today, apparently there are other prerequistes before actually starting the nursing program. I have to take 23 credits before hand, so if they let me take them all this fall, I want to start with nursing in Winter.

Hi, did they suggest any private loan? I have 6 years credit history, and 750 credit score, but rejected by College Ave. I have no co signor, any bank/credit union suggest?
