Good morning!
Joe, that sounds like a nice day.
Dianah, hope you had a good time.
Stars, I wouldn't say no to that spread either. Hope you enjoyed.
I remembered when I was in bed that I didn't post yesterday. But not much went on. I had a really nice day. I had the same patients but they were settled and no drama. The guy that fell wound up leaving AMA after I left.
I was looking at a coworkers name badge and thinking that looked nothing like her, but then realized, I'd never seen her without a mask and she's worked there over a year. Weird. Wonder if we'll ever be able to not wear a mask. With rising infections and ups and downs probably not.
I've still decided to wait at least a year for my 4th shot.
Today I'm taking SlowBro to the doggie eye doctor for a routine checkup and refills on his drops. They made no mention this time of covid restrictions of having to wait in the car. I wonder if I get to meet his ophthalmologist finally after two years. We've only talked on the phone.
We're having typically gorgeous weather in the low 80's with lots of sunshine.
Have a great day!
Good morning all!
Joe, sounds like a good day, with church, and the choir singing, and meal with J and your dad! Were masks worn at church? How did your dad like going to church, rather than watching from home? Good he got out. Most ppl were NOT wearing masks at Sabbath School. The room is quite large, for the amount of ppl in it, so I was relieved that we weren't crammed in a small space.
Tweety, hope today's visit with SlowBro goes well, with encouraging news.
We had a good day yesterday, roaming around the RenFaire. Mainly we people-watched. Didn't sit down to listen to any musicians, though we came upon several just at the end of their set. There was a bagpiper/drummer set, and a street fiddler, and another band JUST putting things away as we approached. A lady walked by carrying a hurdy-gurdy.
Dh bought a flask, to carry water with him more easily. We bought lunch there and then later a hibiscus cooler. It got up to 81 degrees, but in the afternoon a wind started up, which was nice. We saw the queen and her entourage, who were performing a dance for her. We watched a little of the jousting display, very exciting! I usually like to take a turn at the archery booth but didn't this time. We were there for about 3.5 hours, and were tired by the end of it (except for sitting down to eat, we ambled most of the time)! Got home around 5. It was a good day!
Today we need to practice for our music tomorrow night. Wednesday is a memorial service for a friend, up at Oak Glen. Not much else planned for the week. Someone from work texted me asking what was the media print shop's phone number? No, I didn't remember it but I recall the man's name who runs it, so I gave him that.
We need to take one of our cats, the manx, to the vet. He has lost a lot of weight in the past few months. We have had a couple diabetic cats, so we suspected that, but he is not drinking an undue amount of water, as they did. I suspect he is hyperthyroid. In the three months since we weighed him last, he has dropped another 2.5 lb. He was quite overweight to begin with: 22lb or so. He is down to 14lb. He is alert, active, vocal -- as always! But just losing weight. dh does notice he can't stay still. He fidgets and twitches when lying down. This is what makes me suspect hyperthyroidism rather than diabetes. Hopefully we can get him in this week.
Have a good day!
Good Morning. It's raining here, which is nice because it helps to wash some of the pollen out of the air. Our trip to Portland was disappointing, We found out the show was cancelled 15 minutes before showtime. Grrr. We went to a movie instead : The Lost City, which was not as good as I had hoped. Oh well. We did a little shopping, and went to Powell's Bookstore, which is an enormous bookstore that one can spend hours exploring. We grabbed sub sandwiches for lunch to eat at our hotel out on the balcony. Dinner was okay, except the restaurant was very noisy, and it took forever because the kitchen lost our order. For breakfast we walked to Voo Doo Donuts, that is a Portland landmark. DD went to meet a friend and the kids and I went back to the hotel where they watched a movie. And somehow the Easter bunny found us, leaving chocolate bunnies, plush dogs and kites.
The RenFaire sounds fun, as does going out for brunch. Patients who throw themselves on the floor do not sound like fun. It always cracked me up when patients threatened to go AMA if their demands weren't met. Here, let me hold the elevator door for you!
I am going to see if I can get my 2nd booster this week, on my day off. Vice nice, OCD co-worker is at work today. She looked up recovery time for pneumonia: one source said 4 weeks and another said 6. I think she is finally getting the message that she needs to take time to recover!
Good Afternoon, but cold (^40's UGH!). The sun is trying to come out but there is also rain predicted (it rained last night). I have decided we have spastic, schizophrenic weather here: warm, cold, sunny, warm, rainy, windy, rinse and repeat.
One guess who does not feel well today...pain in left side/ left hip/ gas + bloated. Guess who has gone back to bed and said to me, "You're going to have to take care of Nannie today, I don't feel good." Guess who has yet to call the Dr's office for an appointment? GADS! Wonder how long this will go on before he gets an appointment? Seems to me this discomfort/pain comes on the day after he eats something with tomato sauce: pizza, chili, spaghetti, etc. Allergy? ulcer? I dunno. I believe he is afraid to find out what it is. Why do some guys try to fight any pains and 'wait for it to go away.'? Can't just get diagnosed and treated, no. Ahhhhh, well.
The ballgame is not on until 10:10 PM tonight! The Braves will be playing the Dodgers, and this will be the first game Freddie Freeman will play AGAINST the Braves. Every time the 'new' 1st baseman of the Braves comes up to bat, hubby says, "He's not Freddie Freeman." Oh well. I think we won last night's game, but I'm not entirely sure. I will prolly not stay up to watch the entire game, as it goes on until about 1 AM.
Hello, Joe.
Hello Tweety, hope Slo-Bro's eyes continue to do well with the eye drops.
dianah, RenFaire sounds fun. I swear I have heard of more diabetic cats and dogs in the past year or two. Hope your Manx gets a dx and can stay at a good weight instead of gaining and losing. I take it that the sleep-twitching is not just the kind they do at times when they are dreaming?
Hello, j22.
HellOOOOO BCg. Where are you? Hope you are doing okay...
Nannie is sliding into her after-lunch siesta. I'm going to just poke around on line for a while and see what I can see. In about two hours I guess I will take the supper orders and go get it. Whoop-dee-doo!
Ta and toodles for now....
?
Stars, I'm in your husbands camp. Aches, pains, belly aches will go away eventually. I have a friend in the opposite end, and when he catches a cold. pr any little thing, he goes to the doctor. I have another friend that went to the doctor because he felt he was belching too much. Doc put him on Pepcid and took him off NSAIDS and eventually they got better. But I would never go to the doctor for that. I'd just wait it out or look for a trigger.
Dianah, sounds like a nice day. I hope you can get the cat looked at and that he's okay.
J22, sounds like you made the best of it. I'd love to visit Portland one day.
Anyway. Slowbro's glaucoma in one good eye is still normal but the pressure took a jump and a new drop has been added and I have to go back in three weeks. The new drop is three times a day which puts me in a dilemma when I work 12 hour shifts. They still have the covid restrictions in place and I haven't met the doc yet. They had a lot of the staff get covid so I think they are being more cautious than other businesses. Doesn't bother me.
Oh for the love pizza! The hospital called me this morning to say they had scheduled a procedure for a patient today and that I needed to see them in the morning. So I call to confirm with patient and they knew nothing about it. Hospital called 3 hours later to say procedure was cancelled, because no one called the patient and he ate. Hullo? What happened to patient-centered care?
SMH, nursej22. Just poor organization and poor communication. At least, that's how it comes across.
Hmmm, Tweety, good and bad news re: glaucoma. Is there a neighbor or friend who would come by to give SlowBro his drops during the day, on days that you work? Hmmm, the naughty side of me is calculating how long FMLA would apply, and IF it could apply for SlowBro, seeing as how he IS a family member! (yeah, I know, TPTB would not consider him covered under FMLA... which is too, too bad.)
1 hour ago, Tweety said:The new drop is three times a day which puts me in a dilemma when I work 12 hour shifts.
Tweety, if a neighbor or friend isn't able to help on the days you work, check with pet sitting agencies! The one I've used in the past will do a quick day trip for a small fee to take care of those pesky meds. It was a godsend when my girl was on 6 pills a day three times a day for her heart failure.
Had to bathe the cat tonight, who got into something stinky he shouldn't have. Fortunately I did not require a trip to the ER, but I will most likely be closing the bedroom door tonight and contemplating if I should add steel reinforced bars... he can hold a heck of a grudge!
I wouldn't be pushing hubby about going to the doctor except that this has been going on for several weeks, Plus I'm sure it it tied to the little bottles of booze I see in the trash and/or recycling.
I am a wait and see-er myself. Oddly, the horrible knee pains sometimes just disappear for several weeks at a time. Y'know. ice, warm, elevate, and after a coupke of days of that, I'm better.
Being as don't know what kind of 'innards' trouble he might have, I think it would be a good idea to check it all out. I believe he has some, um, glandular pressing on his bladder, though he says not. I just don't want to wonder what it is and what might be done for it.....well, them due to co-morbidities.
It's too late; I'm going to read a bit. Have alarm set for 11 AM.

Dianah that sounds like a fun time
Stars glad the weather is nice there
Was a fairly good Easter here. Did my laundry in the morning as usual Went to church, the choir did pretty good, my dad came to church as well (normally he watches the services online). Afterwards dad and J and I went out to brunch, the first brunch since the pandemic. Did some cooking and exercised later
Hoping for a fairly ordinary day at work today, will be glad when that coworker finally returns Wed.
Has been snowing this morning, will be about 40, but will get quite a bit warmer later in the week
