Mohawk college RPN: exactly how competitive?

Published

So I got my HOAE results in...

Academic aptitude 51/75

Natural sciences 39/60

Reading comprehension 26/35

Spelling 36/45

Vocational adjustment index 78/90

With a required credit average of 84%. I calculated my average for the HOAE and I got a 75% - and you know what, it's much better than I thought I would get

I also applied to niagara and fanshawe. Speaking to others in the RPN program, what were your marks that got you accepted? I'm still very worried about getting in, I have my heart set on Mohawk and applied for September and January. Very stressed out right now. Also, for people that started in September when did you receive your acceptance?

Thanks guys xx

Hi! I applied for both the PN program and BscN for 3 years in a row before getting accepted to PN at Mohawk (I'm in second semester now). It is quite competitive, they told us that there are usually around 1000 applicants for about 130 spots. I did Pre Health and my avg from that was 80% and my average on the HOAE was 82%. I got accepted mid March. Good luck!

I just did my HOAE exam this Feb. 26. Looks like your average and HOAE test is pretty good!

Hope we both get in for the September intake!

I took my HOAE at Niagara...I got the results but no idea if it's a pass...

Academic aptitude- 41/61

Natural Sciences 42/63

Reading comprehension 23/34

Spelling 41/61

Vocational Adjustment 74/111

Just like you brit, I applied both at Niagara and Mohawk for the PN program this coming September... But I have set my heart on Mohawk even though I live in the Niagara area. I coming in with an average of 92 for my required credits. I keep checking my mocomotion account everyday. It says I meet the eligibility but no decision has been made yet. Best of luck to us!

Got my acceptance today :)

I got my acceptance today :)

Whoops double post, anyway I wish everyone else good luck! Such a happy day aha I'm so excited

I got my acceptance today too!!!!!! VERY EXCITED!

Congratulations on your acceptance! As a first term RPN student some advice, be sure to get your paramed clearance before classes start, its now week 10 of the course and there are still some students that haven't even been to clinical yet

Wow really? That's crazy! So I've accepted my offer, do I need to wait til the first fee payment in order to start my paramed clearances? For sure going to want to stay on top of everything. I can't wait til September! Ill be working part time, as I'm moving into a student house in may, so I'm a little nervous about that + the school workload but looking forward to the challenge.

I applied to Mohawk last year and got accepted but I end up not attending for various reasons, but I reapplied and got in for Sept 2013 again. Out of the 4 prereq courses I had an 89% average and I think the HOAE worked out to be around 87% if I calculated correctly.

I also applied to Niagara College for PN and got in again and also I'm toying with the idea of doing the BScN now (I'm currently taking prereqs) and I've only gotten into one school (Lakehead). I got rejected from York and Brock so far. The admissions officer at Brock told me the cut off is 88%... how do high school students pull that off!

For me, I feel like doing the BScN is an ideal route but after speaking with a friend of mine who has gone through the uni programs, I'm told that you don't really learn the hands on clinical like you would in the RPN programs, this kind of threw me off!

Just some ramblings... :)

Hey, amazing marks you got there and congrats on getting accepted to the colleges.

Did you apply at Ryerson or Mohawk-McMaster?

And I'm pretty sure Brock and York has lower cut off averages. Your 89% average will let you in, in any university/college that you like.
