Modesto Junior College ADN applicants '16/'17 MJC Nursing

Published

Hi Everyone. I will be applying to MJC nursing program this May 2016/17. I will be taking my Teas early April for the first time, but so far without my Teas I have 68 points on my application. Anyone who is applying to mjc, I'd love to get an idea where everyone else is at and what my chances might be. Also if you could share what you scored on your teas and what do u think the cut off would be this year... So excited to hear back from u all :) :)

They do not require either for documentation packet. Just a copy of the summary page, transcripts (only if you haven't sent them to Mjc already), and any other supporting documents forms.

great thanks!

Pretty sure the lowest this semester from what I've heard was 70. I believe 70 was the cutoff point for documents. 120 people were selected for both MJC and Columbia. Which breaks down to 80 people being selected for MJC, 20 for Columbia, and that leaves 20 for the reserve list, I assume 10 for each college. Meaning 10 people won't be selected from each college to start off. Which means if you applied to MJC then technically you really only have to worry about 90 people for your competition. I entered with 75 points but still do not feel comfortable, but I am sure I am fine. I heard the cutoff for Columbia was 61, or at least that was the lowest I've seen so far.

Does anyone know if we have to be a student at columbia in order to apply to their program? Or they are connected with mjc?

How did you do on your TEAS? What score did you apply with?

I sent you a PM about retaking the sciences if those are your Bs.

From what I heard you can't retake classes that you received a "C" or higher in. Is there some sort of loophole?

I think you'll be fine at 75, I'm at 80 and was nervous. But from what I've gathered 70 does seem like the lowest documentation score. I'm more nervous for some of my friends who applied with 72 at this point. Honestly I think there are a large number of people between the 70-72 point range.

Yeah, I feel like the majority of applicants were 68-73. I do feel at least five people will choose to attend elsewhere. I also know a few of the 80s that mentioned there scores applied to Columbia.

MJC Nursing: Spring 2016 Applicants is the facebook page

120 people are selected for documents at MJC and 40 people for Columbia. Wish the odds were better but 40 people won't be selected for MJC and 20 people won't be selected for Columbia.

I heard different from someone already in the program who is an ambassador, I think Jennifer was her name. She said it was 120 for both schools combined.

"The 120 applicants for the MJC campus with the highest points will be selected to provide supporting documentation and the 40 applicants for the Columbia College campus with the highest points will be selected to provide supporting documentation. Eighty students will be selected for the MJC campus and 20 students for the Columbia College campus. Students will then be randomized for the fall and spring semesters. A randomized selection process will be used to prioritize students with tied points."

This is is what I read directly from the application instruction page.

It's strange that this part says different:

[h=4] Selection Process[/h]The Modesto Junior College (MJC) Associate Degree Nursing Program utilizes a multicriteria screening process to evaluate and select applicants for admission. Specified criteria used to evaluate applicants includes, but is not limited to, academic degrees, healthcare work, volunteer experience, military healthcare work experience, life experiences, special circumstances, foreign language proficiency, and the Test of Essential Academic Skills Version V score.

On the application, applicants must indicate which campus they would like to attend nursing classes. They may select between MJC and Columbia College. An applicant may not apply for both MJC and Columbia. All nursing applications will be scored electronically. All communication to applicants will be sent to the applicant's student email address. After ranking all of the applications, the applicants with the highest points will be selected to provide their required supporting documentation. All supporting documentation will be reviewed and the qualified applicants will be selected in order of points for fall and spring semesters. Each semester approximately 50 students are accepted into the MJC ADN program (approximately 40 students for the Modesto location and approximately 10 students for the Columbia Satellite location.)

For a detailed explanation of our multicriteria screening process, go to the Allied Health website www.mjc.edu/alliedhealth and search ADN Program and click on the Multicriteria Screening Process Advising Record (MSPAR).
