Mo to Tx licensure endorsement question

Published

Ok I've been on the phone with the Texas BON for on hour and cant get through. My question is that my current primary state licensure is in Mo.I got a job offer in Tx while still living in Mo.I am applying for a permanent license in Tx.They say you must declare Tx as your primary state of residence in order to get a permanent license.

But it says you can only list the state where you vote, pay taxes, and have a drivers license as your primary state -which is Mo for me.

The FAQ states that if you live in another state and are moving to Tx and wish to apply for a permanent license-you should start the app one to two months before moving there. So what do I do?That obv entails stating my primary state as Tx right?

Just declare Tx as my primary state now because I will get a Tx drivers license, vote, and pay taxes once moving there?I think I read somewhere they may require proof now......

Can you apply for a temp Texas license until you know how this will all work out?

Is MO a compact state? If so, you can work in TX with your MO nursing compact license, once you change your permanent residence to TX you are able to continue working on your MO license for 30 days until your endorsement is processed. . Kind of like a drivers license.

You won't be able to endorse a compact license to another compact state until you change your permanent residence

If one of the states is a non-compact state like NY NJ or PA its a nonissue.

When are you moving permanently, or are you sure you are going to? I live/work in Kansas City, Missouri, and work in Dallas,Texas also. I originally worked in Texas on a Colorado license (Colorado was my home and remained such at that time), so I understand how confusing it can be first hand. More info? As mentioned by the user above, you can apply for a temp license (I did that also) however, it was only good for 60 days, and you were only allowed one, so you could not apply for another temporary OR reactivation of the initial temporary. It needed to be granted permanent status after that, so make sure your move is certain before opening that can of worms! Message me with specific questions if you like, I have been down that road more than once, and am happy to help if I can.

I moved to Texas from Indiana and had a temp license within a week. The permanent license process went through without any problems. You should be fine going that route as well.

How long did it take you to get your permanent license? And what do they check before they offer you one? I completed background check, license verification, jurisdiction exam. Do they just make sure all that is done or do they do more. I'm also licensed in MO and relocated to TX. Any help will be most appreciated .

Thank God! Got my permanent license, showed up on the TX BON today. Started entire process in January and finish on June 30. Long hard road .
