Missouri State University CRNA

Nursing Students SRNA

Published

When I was looking for a CRNA school, I found this school, but realized that allnurses.com did not have much in this program. I wanted to start this forum to bring to light some things that I found out about the school.

Location: Springfield, MO

Program length: 36 months. Doctorate.

Interview: Suit up. You're welcome. Panel Interviews. All day affair. Really nice, but questions may seem a little intense. May have been my nerves talking here.

How quickly to hear back? Depends between 2 weeks to a couple of months depending on where you rank.

Any questions welcome. I got in and I am super excited for starting as this was my first choice.

Good luck to you all on your journey!

Hey Mercymercy!

I plan on applying for the Summer 2020 class.

I did have a few questions if you don't mind answering!

- How many students interviewed/got accepted?

- What were the questions in the interview like (i.e. clinical based or personality based)?

- What were your stats going into the program?

- How often do you rotate clinical sites/how many clinical sites are available?

- How are clinical sites selected?

Sorry for all of the questions, just really excited to apply!

1. They had an intended number of about 40 students to interview, but some ended up dropping due to other admissions, so that number went down a bit. They were only interested in accepting 20 students but looks like it's a total of about 24 for the class. Mind you, they had over 100 applicants.

2. Questions were more personality based/ethically based. I did not get any clinical questions in mine, not sure about others though. It doesn't hurt to chip a few things in clinically though.

3. My stats, little over a year at the time of application deadline in ICU, but had 2.5 yrs Trauma ER prior to moving back to ICU. CCRN. 3.5 GPA undergrad. 302 GRE, 149 reading 153 math, 4.0 writing. was becoming an instructor for ACLS, taught CCRN review course, part of committees, charge nurse, etc. They really like at least 2 yrs before you start. Had another girl that had 2 years and all the interviewers kept asking how she'd cope with only 2 years experience in ICU.

4/5. Haven't started clinicals, but they say that you get to go to at least 4 sites, and 1 will be in a rotation with a CRNA independent site so you get the exposure. They assign you sites to go to, not much of a choice, just based on the algorithm you place into randomly. Clinicals can be as short as 3 months up to 6 months, depending on your site.

I also shadowed almost 30 hours in various areas/cases from OB, Neuro, Ortho, Pediatrics, etc.

Late to this forum, but do you have to have inorganic chemistry to apply?

Yes. You have to have organic chemistry or be currently enrolled in a class right now in order to submit your application.

Hello everyone! I have recently sent in my application and I’m now patiently awaiting to hear back. I know we won’t hear anything until the end of November but I’m counting down the days. I was wondering if anyone else is in the same shoes I am in?

Hello All! I have applied as well and I hope to get in. I have 3+ years ICU experience. 1 year CCU and 2 years MICU, 3.74 undergraduate gpa, CCRN, charge nurse, participate in committees, rapid response team, daisy award winner and volunteer experience. This is my first choice since it is close to home. Also have 24 hours of shadowing in Cardiac, ortho and obstetrics!

Hi CVICU. I was wondering why the interview took all day. Do you interview for multiple panels and are current students involved in the interview panels as well. Thanks for your information.

Hello,

has anyone heard anything yet? How many applied and when will we hear anything? When I sent in my app I got an email stating that they will let us know this week. Then I got a second email from the coordinator stating they will let us know towards the end of the month through email. I’m really excited and I’m interested in chatting about it if anyone wants to!

Hello Misty453

I received those emails as well but I have not heard anything from them yet. Do you have any further updates?

Hi,

nope nothing yet. No one else responded either so maybe it’s just us applying. We’re a shoe in if so. ? just called the coordinator and she said we should definitely hear something by the end of next week if not this week, so just a little more waiting?
