Missing the first day of class?

Published

he guys just a quick question do your professors ever drop students that arent present on the first day of class??

I wouldn't miss the first day of class if I were you. My school will drop you if you miss any class (even non nursing classes). I agree with the others that say the teachers set the expectations on the first day and so you will feel really far behind if you miss it. You have come this far so it's not worth it to get off on the wrong foot. Hopefully whatever it is you have to do that day isn't too big of a deal.

at my school, you have a week before you are dropped

My school has a policy that you must attend the first class or you are automatically dropped. It probably depends on your school/teacher as well.

this is the policy at our school as well.

I once had an instructor that told us that the only excuse for missing a class is death: your own. And you'd better have your family provide the appropriate certificate or you'd still get an F.

Seriously, if you don't have absolute permission from the instructor ahead of time (for a bonafide can't-avoid-it emergency), BE there.
