missed visit pay

Do you get paid for missed visits? How much?

Check with your state labor board to find out if "reporting time pay" (also called "show-up pay") is due. In my state 1/2 of scheduled work, not to exceed 4 hours. Most employers do not pay it, putting the employee in an unpleasant position.

No we don't get paid for missed visits, generally. If we have followed all the steps we are supposed to (calling the evening before, spoke to the patient/family) and we drove a long way they may give us something, but usually a missed visit means less income.

We don't get a missed visit pay exactly, but if a pt has confirmed with you a specific time for the visit and you show up to an empty house it's "show up pay". If they never answer the phone to schedule the visit it's an unpaid missed visit and we generally try again the next day.

For staff paid per visit, they get $15 for a missed visit. The private duty staff gets 1 or 2 hours worth of pay, depending on how long their shift was supposed to be. I am salaried, so I don't lose money if I miss a visit.

We also get paid for an "attempted visit" if it is pre approved by our manager. If a pt doesn't answer the phone but we drive by to try to see them. I am paid per visit but the attempted visit rate is $20 plus mileage.

We are paid mileage only and it is calculated from our home to their home only.

Mileage only...still have to fill out a form that we don't get paid for.
