Hi!
I know it's early, but I thought I would start a thread for anyone applying to the nursing programs at MiraCosta, Palomar and Grossmont for Fall 2019. Let's share information and cheer each other on!! I've heard so many different ranges for points...I'm estimating I'll have somewhere between 87-89 points. Good Luck!!
Bachelors 10pts
100 hours volunteering 5pts
4.0 Science Prerequisites 30pts
3.5 Fix Set Prerequisites 13pts
Life Experience 1-3pts
TEAS 28pts

I have tons more questions about class size, the professors, and which hospitals we do our rounds in lol
Congrats on your acceptance! Thank you to sallyplaysflute for sharing the NCLEX pass rates! As you can see, Palomar has maintained a really high NCLEX pass rate, so they clearly have a top notch program. That is why almost all of Palomar's graduates find jobs a reasonable amount of time after passing the NCLEX.
To answer your other questions:
- Palomar tries to admit 36 students per application cycle (2 application cycles per year).
- I don't know too many specifics about the professors, but I've heard nothing but good things about them.
- Some hospitals that Palomar does their clinicals at are Palomar Medical Center and Tri-City Medical Center. I'm sure they do clinicals at other hospitals, but PMC and Tri-City are the more common places.
Hope this helps!

I know how tedious the waiting can be, but don't lose hope because you still have a chance at getting accepted.
How Palomar notifies applicants:
- admission emails are sent out to the top 36 applicants once points are finalized + the top 36 applicants are given a deadline to reply to the email to secure their seat. If any of the top 36 do not reply or indicate that they decline the admission offer, then the nursing staff assume that they forfeit their admission.
- after the first wave of emails is sent out, the nursing staff determine how many more seats they need to fill and send out more emails to applicants until all 36 seats are filled.
From what I've been told, it's unlikely for all 36 seats to be filled during the first wave of acceptance emails (since people decide to attend other programs, choose alternative careers, etc.), which means that there will likely be subsequent emails sent out. Emails can even be sent out until the first day of class.
Because of this, give yourself a pat on the back for being able to complete such tough requirements, and stay optimistic for the future. You WILL get into Palomar or another nursing program when the time is right!
Hey Cassie25, I haven't heard from Palomar either so you're not alone. Also, thank you JPVC_8402 for providing information about how Palomar accepts their students. It's reassuring to know that the first wave doesn't normally get filled up so there's a chance for people to get spots in the program.

I’ll try to keep hope. Congrats to everyone who got accepted!
No problem! The top 36 have until Friday, April 26th at 5pm to respond to the email that secures their spot.
That's the spirit! Keep your head up! Everything will work out, I'm sure!

Hello everyone! I just wanted to let all know that I declined my admission offer from Palomar, so I hope that one of you is fortunate enough to take my seat. Best of luck!
