MiraCosta Palomar Fall 2017 ADN

Published

Hi everyone,

I'm starting this thread for those of us that applied to MiraCosta and/or Palomar's Fall 2017 ADN cohorts! Please share your stats/points and any insight on either program if you have any :).

I calculated 85/86 pts depending on life credits. I scored 88 on the TEAS 6, 3.6 science, 4.0 gen eds. I'm also an Emt, worked at a hospital, and have an AA degree.

I know MiraCosta only takes 20 and I believe Palomar is 36. I did almost all of my pre-reqs through MCC and I've been told It has been really impacted the last few cycles. 85-89 was the point range for spring 2017 at mcc! I'll be happy to get into either but Im not sure on the major differences between the two programs.

Good luck to everyone, I'll be anxiously waiting the next 4-6 weeks! 😬

Hey there I also will be attending the Nursing Program in Fall. Im Monica btw and my whopping 80 points got me in :) I was also stressing out about getting in this upcoming semester if not I would have had to taken the teas test (newer version) again and I was totally treading it!! Cant wait to see everyone next Tuesday.

Does anyone know when the cutoff for notifications are? I'm super anxious about it í ½í¸¯

Those of us notified today needed to confirm or deny acceptance wed by 4pm. So don't loose hope just yet!

I am stressing also because I haven't heard anything...but I guess no news is good news right?

My name is Alex and I will also be attending Palomar in the fall! All the threads on here have helped tremendously as I am not from the area and have applied to Saddleback, Mira Costa, and Palomar. Thanks for the information and see you guys at orientation on Tuesday! :)

I didn't get in :(

My friend messaged me today and told me that 8 people didn't RSVP to MiraCosta, meaning most of the alternates should get a spot in the program. Well I just received a call today that I have been admitted for Fall! I'm still trying to decide between Palomar and MiraCosta but I'm happy to no longer be an alternate :)

Have you decided yet. I think either way you can not go wrong with what school you choose. Only thing is that MC orientation is in july right?

Haven't decided yet. I wish Mccs orientation was earlier but it isn't until July! In just looking at the courses for each school it looks like Palomar is more concept based where they integrate classes across the lifespan (med surge 2, maternal, and peds are all one class) Mcc has each class separate. I'm also starting a new job at a hospital working nights so the schedules will probably play a factor for me as well. But I'm really excited for orientation at Palomar tomorrow!

Don't give up, hope @alykaboss

You got this next time. It took me a couple application cycles

@alykaboss I'm sorry you didn't get a spot. The acceptance process is brutal but don't give up. If you haven't already, try to get some points volunteering and/or get reference letters.

@Larocquh, congrats on landing two spots!!! I know that they said not to stress out about nursing school, but I already can"t sleep because of it and Fall session hasn't even started yet. Only you guys would understand!

Thank you @YJLmom! After going to Palomar's orientation yesterday I am feeling the stress. They definitely have a very strong program. However, after comparing their schedule with MiraCosta's, mcc is going to work better for me and my work schedule. Ive also had a great experience at MiraCosta doing my pre reqs. I'm pretty positive I am going to choose MiraCosta!
