MiraCosta / MSJC Spring 2021 ADN

Published

Hi guys!

I just wanted to make a thread for everyone who has applied for the Spring 2021 ADN programs down here in Socal!

I am applying for both MiraCosta and MSJC since Palomar canceled their Spring ADN application window.

Notifications will be out within 2 months at the end of October, good luck everyone!

WOW! all of these replies make me a bit worried and sad that I won't get into any nursing program because my points are not as high and they already accept few people as it is...I'm applied to MiraCosta too ?

Don't lose hope! It's super common to have to reapply and this semester is going to be more competitive than usual. Palomar is typically so much easier to get into too. For Spring 2020 the admitted point range was between 80-95 points and they take 36 people. So their Fall 2021 period should be easier than MC or MSJC.

If you have the finances private nursing schools are so much less competitive and make an okay last resort. But they're usually around $20-30k for the whole program vs the $6k that community colleges cost. But I know people that have done that instead of reapplying several times.

Hi @LucyGooseyy! You are right, we just gotta hang in there! We can all make it, but it sometimes takes a few tries ?Wishing you all strength through this process, hang in there! I’ve been in the process on and off for a couple years. I got pretty burnt out and took a little tome off and have begun reapplying again ? I’m determined again and it feels great! Btw when you were talking about admissions statistics (80-95), which school were you referring to? MC or Palomar? Happy Friday everyone!!

Thank you for the well wishes, I appreciate it! Its not easy, CONGRATS on not giving up! You can do it! ??

I was referring to Palomar with the admission points. I believe the last 3 or 4 admission cycles that was the accepted point range, they average 80-95ish points

Thank you so much, I’m glad to have this group to help keep me pumped! Also, thanks for clarifying which school ?

Hi everyone! I applied for the MSJC program as well. I was hoping that the covid would of made it a little easier to get in but I didn't know colleges were actually postponing applications! Ahhh, does that mean MSJC will have more applicants than usual? I have 92 points but last year 88 was the lowest after reading a few threads (I think). This semester sounds like it will be competitive! Either way Im still excited to make it this far! Fingers crossed, we got this! ?

I did read on another thread that MSJC had postponed their Fall semester so we can probably expect to have a lot of those people applying which means more competition for everyone ? I asked a MSJC counselor and she told me that 86 was the lowest they accepted for their last period, which was Spring 2020. It still sounds like you should have a solid chance, wishing you all the best ??

I've been hunting around on MCC website for their previous cohort acceptance rates, but no luck. Anyone have a link to share? I know the numbers are averaging around 93, but I really would love to see the high and low points too ? TIA! Happy Labor Day everyone!

If you Google "miracosta nursing faqs" the first result should be a pdf file that answers a bunch of questions. They mention the 93 point average on page 7 but they don't mention highs or lows ?

Happy Labor Day! ?

Thank you! I think they used to have a acceptance rate pdf too, dang.

Hi everyone! I'm a little late to the gang but I applied to MCC too a few weeks ago as well! Hah, I was hoping this whole pandemic situation was going to help us too but with all these schools postponing application periods and having their current students redo semesters, I'm worried there will be 2x as many applicants in the Spring round of applications!

Welcome ?? im trying to be optimistic and hoping the pandemic situation might help level out the extra competition of schools postponing. ?? hopefully not everything is working against us.

Do you know how many points you had for MCC? I read on a different thread that someone was able to email Mallory and she let them know the top 20 point range. Also I saw on a different thread notifications for MCC being sent out as early as the first week of October, hopefully we get that lucky!
