Mira Costa Palomar spring 2018 ADN program

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Published

Hey there! I am creating this thread for all applicants to Mira Costa and Palomar for the Spring 2018 semester. Hopefully we can cheer each other on and take some of the waiting anxiety away together. My scores were somewhere between 78-84 points with a teas score of 78.6%. As you can see, VERY average. Can anyone enlighten me on the difference between Palomar, Mira Costa, and Grossmont? Grossmont does currently have its own page, but the more informative sources the better! Thanks and good luck to everyone!

This is entirely speculation, but based on pass rates and the general competitiveness of the programs down here I don't think there are many if any bad non-profit schools. I would go wherever is closer. Two years x the difference in drive time adds up in time and gas and stress pretty quickly.

I have a couple of Facebook friends that are 2"17 fall cohorts at Grossmont and they assured me that they only accept 40 a semester.

I was wondering myself... since I like the idea of a smaller classroom size :)

Yes! That is great news. The smaller class size was a real draw for me to MCC (as well as their NCLEX pass rate -- 3rd highest in the state!), but if Grossmont is only 40 students and has the 9th highest pass rate in the state, then I don't think that MCC would be worth the extra drive for me. For what it's worth, I am only in my second week of Micro at Grossmont, and I am really liking my class so far. I haven't met any nursing students yet, but I get a good vibe there.

(I'm applying for admission for fall 2018, so I hope you don't mind me jumping into your thread. I will hopefully be in right behind you!)

Do you think the Palomar office would notify you in any way if anything was wrong with your application? Or if they needed more verification?

Thanks Blopple, I'm pretty jealous of your teas score, I could have used the extra couple points. A friend of mine also applied to Mira Costa and they told her the average for this application period is even higher than last time (it's in the 90's). I'm not exactly holding my breath; I hope to at least get accepted as an alternate.

Well damn at the rate some of the scores are climbing I'll probably right there reapplying with you for fall as well haha.

Hey guys! Im also applying to Palomar for spring 2018. Judging by everyones points I think I'm on the lower end :(

Im hoping for alternate at this point. I wish there was a place I could track my application to see if it was reviewed or had something missing.. I feel like I'm in limbo waiting and not knowing lol! good luck to us all :D

I forgot to check a box and they called me to ask if I meant to. So they will call

MiraCosta and Grossmont check your application to make sure you have everything so thats always reassuring. Miracosta said they take in 5 alternates. If no one drops out or declines their invite you will be accepted into the next cohort no applying!

I applied to all 3 colleges with a score between 72-77 with life experience/languages points being accepted or not. I had a friend who works at Sharp with me get in with 71 points but he as the last round of invites.

Grossmont will send invites out end of this month/ next month and Miracosta told me first week of Oct. by email they no longer do mail! Then Palomar will be at the end of the month so they're my last hope!

I just got an email from miracosta. Already omg! I have been accepted as an alternate unfortunately. I was really hoping for a spot so I could get this show on the road.

I had 83 points so it looks like acceptances are at least >83 this time. Good luck to everyone!

PS if you get accepted to miracosta you should not attend, so I can have your spot :p

Heard from MC! Unfortunately I didn't get in :/ good luck y'all!

Wow! That was quick.

@Blopple- congratulations on being an alternate! That's already a feat on its own. Did you apply anywhere else?

@Gabbysilt09 - I'm sorry. :( At least we still have Palomar to sweat about.
